Web Farm for IIS Web servers (shared Web pages and shared configurations)

Here, use the environment of the following diagram to establish a Web Farm of IIS Web server, and set up its Web site as www.itchenyi.com. We will enable the Windows NLB,NLB operating mode in unicast mode directly on two IIS Web servers in the diagram.

Software and hardware requirements for WEB Farm

To build the above environment, the hardware and software configuration needs to match the requirements of the next litigation (such as the non production environment, recommended using the virtual machine provided by Microsoft Hyper-V) to test

1. IIS Web server WEB1 and WEB2: The two servers that make up the Web farm are Windows Server 2008r2 Enterprise, and the Web server IIS role is installed, and we want to create an NLB cluster, And join the two servers in this cluster. The two servers have two network cards, a network of 1, a connection Network 2, of which only network card 1 enable Windows NLB, so the network card 1 in addition to the original fixed IP address (192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.2), They also have a common cluster IP address (192.168.1.254) and use this cluster IP address to receive the Internet request (http://www.itchenyi.com/) sent by the test computer WIN-XP.

2, File server fileserver: This Windows Server 2003 server is used to store Web page content of the server, that is, two Web server's home directory is in the same file server folder, two Web servers should also use the same settings, These shared settings are also stored on this file server.

Tips:

Because of the Web farm settings here, the test environment is simplified to a single file server, so Web content and sharing settings do not have fault tolerance, so you can set up multiple file servers to use DFS Replication to synchronize Web content and shared settings, to provide fault-tolerant functionality.

DNS server: The Windows Sever 2003 server is still used to resolve the IP address of the Web farm URL www.itchenyi.com.

Test computer WIN-XP: Here I still use my habit, with XP test www.itchenyi.com whether the Web Farm can be properly connected, the hint, test computer and DNS server can be the same computer, for testing has no impact.

Prepare network environment and computer

Tip: If you copy the operating system through a virtual machine, you need to run the Sysprep.exe program on your computer to change its SID.

3, as shown in the previous topology map, set IP address, subnet mask, preferred DNS.

4. Temporarily close all firewalls in the test environment.
