1. Back up the boot file (the file is on the disk where the current Boot Program is located ):

2. Back up BCD files

Open "run" (Start> RUN) and Enter cmd

Enter bcdedit/export "X: \ XXX \ bcd"

The recovery procedure is as follows (assuming XP is on the disk, Vista is on the d disk, and XP is reinstalled ):

Recover boot file: copy the Vista boot file (folder) to drive C.

Restart Vista: bootsect/nt60 SYS

Restore BCD files

Open "run" (Start> RUN) and Enter cmd

Enter bcdedit/import "X: \ XXX \ bcd"

If you reinstall XP, restore the Vista Startup File, use bootsect to restore the Vista startup manager, and then bcdedit to restore the startup item;

If you reinstall Vista and restore the Xp Startup File, you only need to use bcdedit to restore the startup Item.

If you do not back up the boot file and find that the BOOTSECT command cannot be repaired, you need to use the VISTA installation CD to boot, then you can fix the computer when selecting the language for the disc. Remember, the disc must not be cracked. Most of the discs after the cracking have no language options.
