Win8 Machine HDD Abnormal sound

The WIN8 system is mounted on an SSD and hangs a Seagate 2T machine hard drive for data storage, often with abnormal sound. Sounds like power-on power-down. Because of the drive's APM Energy saving, the head is returned to the sound.

Use the Crystaldiskinfo software to disable APM and to eliminate the noise. However, disabling APM cannot be saved to the disk firmware, so Crystaldiskinfo will be resident memory at system startup.

Search Download Crystaldiskinfo, this is free software.

After installation, run Crystaldiskinfo, and select "Features", "Advanced Features" and "AAM/APM" controls at a time in the menu. In the admin screen that pops up, drag the slider in the APM to the right (performance mode) and turn it on.
