First, the preparatory work:

1. Ready to install the Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition Simplified Chinese Standard Edition CD.
2. If possible, scan all hard drives with ScanDisk before running Setup to check for hard drive errors and fix them, otherwise setup will be troublesome if you check for hard drive errors when you run the program.
3. Use paper to record the product key of the installation file (installation serial number).
4. If you have not installed Windows 2003 System and are now using the xp/2000 system, it is recommended that you back up all the drivers under Windows xp/2000 system to your hard disk using the driver Backup tool (such as Driver Wizard, V1.9 Beta.exe) (for example: F : \drive). Windows xp/2000 system drivers that are backed up can be used under Windows 2003 systems.
5. If you want to format the C or D disk during the installation process (it is recommended that you format the partition used to install the 2003 system during the installation process), back up the useful data in the C or D disk.
6. Export e-mail accounts and communications books;
Copy the Favorites directory in the C:\Documents and settings\administrator (or your username) \ to another disk to back up your favorites and, if possible, export the settings for other applications.
7. System Requirements-----For x86 computers: one or more processors with a minimum frequency of MHz (lowest supported) are recommended. Each computer supports up to 8 processors. Recommended use of Intel
Pentium/celeron series, AMD K6/athlon/duron series or compatible processors. It is recommended that you use at least 128 MB of RAM, with a maximum support of GB. For an Itanium architecture-based computer: Use one or more processors with a frequency of not less than 733 MHz. Each computer supports up to 8 processors. The minimum RAM is 1 GB and the maximum is GB. Hard disk free space, which is approximately 1.25 GB to 2 GB on an x86-based computer, and is approximately 3 GB to 4 GB on an Itanium architecture based computer, if you run Setup over a network instead of a CD-ROM, or from fat or fat 32 partition to perform an upgrade (the NTFS file system is recommended), you will need more disk space.

second, the use of CD-ROM to start the system:

(If you already know the method, go to the next step), reboot the system and set the optical drive as the first boot disk, save the settings and reboot. Put the 2003 CD-ROM into the optical drive and restart the computer. When you start, you can quickly press ENTER when you see figure 1 below, or you cannot start a 2003 system installation. If you do not know to set the optical drive as the first boot disk specific practices please refer to the same--> how to enter the Pure DOS system:

Third, install Windows XP Professional

After the CD has been started, if you can see the installation interface without any surprises, it will appear as shown in Figure 2 below

Read the startup information from the CD and it will soon appear as shown in Figure 3 below.

License Agreement, there is no room for choice, press "F8" after the following figure 5
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
Here use the "down or up" arrow keys to select the partition used to install the system, I am ready to use C disk to install 2003, and prepare to format in the following process C disk. Select the partition and press ENTER to enter, and the installer will check the C disk space and the existing operating system on C disk. When you are done, the following figure 6 shows
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
The above illustration indicates that the installer detected that the C disk already has an operating system presence and has a warning message. If you choose to install the system partition is empty, will not appear above Figure 6 and directly appear in Figure 8 picture.
Here I insist on using C disk to install the system, according to the prompts, press the "C" key on the keyboard after the following figure 7 shows
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
The bottom of the illustration provides 5 options for manipulating the selected partition, where the option to save an existing file system (unchanged) does not include a format partition operation, and all others have formatting operations on the partition. Here, I use the "Move Up" arrow to select "Format the disk partition with the NTFS file system" as shown in Figure 8 below
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
A warning appears in the format C disk after the carriage return, as shown in Figure 9 below
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
When you are sure that you want to format the C disk and press the "F" key, the installer will begin formatting the C disk, as shown in Figure 10 below.
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
The C partition is being formatted in Figure 10, and only the Setup program can be provided with the CD-ROM to provide the format partitioning option during installation, and if you are booting into DOS with an MS-DOS boot disk, the Windows 2003 procedure is not formatted with the partition option when you run I386\winnt.exe to install. After formatting the C partition, create a list of files to copy, and then start copying the system files, as shown in Figure 11 below
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
The file is copied in Figure 11, and setup begins initializing the Windows configuration after the file has been copied. As shown in Figure 12 below
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
When the Windows configuration is initialized, the following Figure 13 screen appears, and the system reboots after 15 seconds.
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
This part of the installer has been completed and the system will automatically reboot in 15 seconds to transfer control from the installer to the system. At this point, it is recommended that the hard drive be set as the first boot disk (unchanged or not) when the system reboots. After restarting, the first occurrence of the Windows Server 2003 splash screen is shown in Figure 14
screen.width*0.7) {this.resized=true; this.width=screen.width*0.7 this.alt= ' Click here to open new Window\nctrl+mouse Wheel to zoom in/out ';} ' Border=0>
