1. Prepare
1) Reason
For security reasons, it is not allowed to ping from outside on Windows 2008 R2, and if you need to configure permission to be ping, you must configure it through Advanced Security Windows Firewall.
2) Equipment
A WINDWOS 2003 machine, a Windows 2008 R2 machine (here with a virtual machine demo)
The Windows 2003 IP address is: 192.168.1.102
The Windows 2008 IP address is: 192.168.1.103
2. Graphical settings
1 Windows 2003 Ping Windows 2008:
2 Windows 2008 Ping Windows 2003:
Because Windows 2008 ping Windows 2003 can ping, it proves that the network from Windows 2008 to Windows 2003 is fine, while Windows 2003 ping Windows 2008 does not ping. It can be judged that firewalls on Windows 2008 are blocked.
3 Advanced Security Windows Firewall:
Start-> Administrative Tools-> Advanced Security Windows Firewall
4 Configure Advanced Security Windows Firewall:
Select "Inbound Rules" in the Left option box
5 Start ICMP:
Check "started (E)", according to the specific circumstances to choose and start the corresponding ICMP, the application can (here I open the IPV4 Public network ICMP)
6 Windows 2003 Ping Windows 2008:
You can ping it now.
3. Command line settings
1) Turn off the ICMP just opened:
2 Ping Windows 2008 again with Windows 2003:
Ping again at this time, the following we use the command line to open ICMP
3 Open ICMP:
Open public network ICMP using netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8
4 Windows 2003 Ping Windows 2008:
Ping again.
5 View Advanced Security Windows Firewall:
The IPV4 and IPv6 ICMP display of the public network has been started
6) off ICMP
To turn off ICMP via netsh firewall set icmpsetting 8 disable
7 View Advanced Security Windows Firewall:
The ICMP display of the IPV4 and IPV6 of the public network has been closed
