I. Brief Introduction and preparation

1. Features

# This dual-system XP, Vista/Win7 are installed in two different primary partitions, independent of each other, and all the boot files of the system are only in the partition where the system is located, formatting of one partition or damage/reinstallation of the system on it will not affect the use of another partition system.


# The startup process is:
Start XP: bios --> mbr --> ntldr --> boot. ini --> win kernel;
Start Vista/Win7: bios --> mbr --> bootmgr --> boot \ BCD --> win kernel
The installation of an independent dual-system is not complex. The key and difficulty lies in the preparation of the dual-system boot menu. Here, we can modify boot.ini using the notebook, or use bcdedit.exe to modify boot \ BCD to create boot menus for XP and Vista/Win7 respectively.

 

2. Disk tools: Software for backing up mbr (Master Boot Record)

Winhex is used in XP, Vista, and Win7, and many cracked versions are available for download on the Internet.

 

3. system installation sequence

Any, XP, Vista, Win7, Vista, Win7, and XP.

 

4. Hard Disk partitioning

Divide two primary partitions, one for XP installation, and one for Vista/Win7 installation. The first partition is marked as an active partition. Assume that XP is installed in the first partition.
Note: You can change the active partition in disk management of XP and Vista/Win7, right-click the primary partition, and mark the disk partition as active. If you use pqpartition, boot. ini boot for Vista/Win7 in XP may cause problems. Use the partition tool that comes with XP, Vista/Win7 or other third-party software partitions that have been verified and applied.


2. Install the system and create a Startup Menu

A. install XP first and then Vista/Win7

1. install XP in the first partition

2. Save mbr as the file mbr1
Mbr is in the disk Boot Sector. Here we use winhex to save it as a file. Save method: Run winhex, press "F9", select "physical disk", click the partition where the current system is located, and then click the menu: edit -- Copy sector -- the shortcut key is "Ctrl + Shift + N". Enter a file name.

3. Activate the second primary partition and install Vista/Win7

4. Save the mbr as mbr2 in step 1.

5. Activate the first partition and start to enter XP

6. Copy the stored mbr2 to the root directory of the XP partition and add a line in boot. ini.

C: \ MBR2 = "Microsoft Windows Vista/Win7 Ultimate" * enter the quotation marks at will, the same below

5. Start to enter Vista/Win7 and copy the saved mbr1 to the root directory of the Vista/Win7 partition.

6. Run cmd with the Administrator permission and enter the following command line in sequence:

After bcdedit/create/d "Windows XP"/application bootsector * is run, the ID of the newly created item is returned, for example, {a1b6c8}

Set id = {a1b6c8} * Item ID is automatically generated by the computer. The preceding example is used for convenience.

B. Install Vista/Win7 and then XP

1. Activate the second partition and install Vista/Win7

2. Save mbr as mbr2

3. Activate the first primary partition and install XP

4. Save mbr as mbr1

5. Start to enter XP

6. Copy the stored mbr2 to the root directory of the XP partition and add a line in boot. ini.

C: \ MBR2 = "Microsoft Windows Vista/Win7 Ultimate"

(Create the Vista/Win7 boot menu)

5. Activate the second partition, start to enter Vista/Win7, and copy the stored mbr1 to the root directory of the Vista/Win7 partition.

6. Run cmd with the Administrator permission and enter the following command line in sequence:

Iii. Cancel Dual System

A. to cancel the XP system in the Vista/Win7 boot menu, activate the second primary partition, start and enter Vista/Win7, run cmd with administrator privileges, and enter the following command line

B. to cancel the Vista/Win7 System in the XP boot menu, activate the first primary partition, start XP, and delete boot. c: \ MBR2 = "Microsoft Windows Vista/Win7 Ultimate" in ini
