In the evaluation done by foreign media betanews, running Firefox 3 and running IE8 in Windows 7 is faster than in Vista, while Firefox 3.5 is slowing down. BetaNews's reviewers compared the main browsers ' relative speeds in different virtual system environments, and the results showed that IE8 performance increased 23%,firefox 3.0.10 in Windows 7, and improved performance by 17.5%.
These preliminary test results show that the architecture of Windows 7 is more or less likely to affect the performance of the mainstream web browsers. The test uses the environment on Windows XP SP3 to install Vista and Windows 7 via virtual machine software fictitious PC 2007 SP1 to create a relatively fair environment.
At the beginning of the test, BetaNews chose, uh, Firefox 1.5, but later found that the version could not run on Win7. Later, instead of a few recent versions, Firefox 2.0.13 was used to establish a relative standard for evaluating performance improvements relative to IE7 in different environments.
In Vista virtual environment, the performance index of Firefox 2.0.13 relative to IE7 is 2.49, which means 249% relative execution efficiency. and Firefox 3.0.10 performance index in the Vista virtual environment is 5.19! The performance index of IE8 was 2.19.
In the Win7 virtual environment, the Firefox 3.5beta4 runs down 2.5%, the performance index is 10.18, and in Vista, the index is 10.44.
All of the tests currently available show that Windows 7 can help the program run faster.
