Since Windows 8 was released, a large part of its functions have been designed for touch screens. However, Microsoft has not neglected the PC experience. This time, we skipped the traditional text password to experience the image password and simple PIN code operated by the mouse.
First, let's take a look at how to set the image password.
Click your username on the Metro interface and select "Changeaccount picture" (Change account image)
Then select "Users" (user)
Select "Createa picture password"
Next, we will be prompted to enter the existing text password.
If you are not bound to a Windows Live account, enter the password used to create the user. Once a Windows Live account is bound, you need to use Windows Live for user login. The password used is the password of Windows Live.
Next, we can select an image as the image password.
Select the image, drag the image as prompted, select the location of the password, and click "Usethis picture" (use this image)
As prompted, you can set passwords by using the dot, line, and circle gestures on the selected image. If the input is incorrect, click "StartOver" in the lower-left corner to enter a new one.
After you enter the image, the set image gesture appears on the screen for a short time.
Straight Line
Circle
After, you will be asked to confirm the three gestures. Note that the order must be consistent.
The system prompts that the setting is successful. You can use the image password to log on next time.
Click "Finish" to exit the settings. Next, let's lock the user and try a password.
You can see that even if the image password is enabled, you can switch to the text password to log on.
If the password is incorrect, you can also use "StartOver" to re-enter the password.
In addition, when you input a gesture, there will be a short gesture mark on the screen. The verification time is longer than the text password.
After multiple logon failures, you will switch to the traditional logon password for logon.
In addition to image passwords, the PIN password function is also added to Windows 8.
On the above page, you can add a PIN password.
Similarly, you also need to enter the current traditional password to set the PIN code.
Enter four digits. Note that the value must be a number or four digits.
Click the eye-like icon on the right side to view the entered content, and the password will be restored after it is released. This function is also applicable to the setting and input of traditional passwords.
Click "Finish" to complete PIN setting. Next, let's take a look at the unlock of the PIN code.
As you can see, when the above passwords are set at the same time, you can choose to enter the password.
From left to right: Image password, PIN code, and traditional password.
After the number of PIN codes, you can directly access the Metro interface without any other operations (such as press enter and click to enter.
The set image password and PIN code can be removed and changed in the same position.
No confirmation prompt is required to remove the password.
Finally, let's review how to directly use the default account to enter the Metro interface at startup without having to enter the password.
In Desktop mode, press WinKey + R and enter "netplwiz"
Select the user account you want to log on to and cancel "Usersmust enter a user name and password ".
Select to use this computer and click OK.
Enter the two logon passwords. Similarly, enter the Windows Live password for binding users.
Click "OK.
After using the above three passwords, let's talk about your feelings:
1. after entering the text password (including the traditional password and PIN code), you can click "eyes" to view the entered content. This design is user-friendly, you can promptly detect problems such as case input and notebook digital keyboard locks.
2. When using the image password, it takes a longer time to wait than the text password. It may be because there are a lot of content to be processed and the fuzzy recognition process is required.
3. When the image password is used, a short-time gesture is displayed after the operation. In my opinion, this function is more convenient when setting a password, but when using it, the password is easily "**" by others.
4. the input of the PIN code is short, and you can directly enter the Metro interface after entering the code. This is suitable for frequent operations on the mobile phone screen lock.
5. When the image password and PIN code are canceled, no additional password is required, which affects security.
6. The image password recognition is still relatively accurate, and certain errors are allowed. It can be applied to devices with large touch screens such as tablets. PIN codes are recommended for mobile phones.
7. Three password input methods can be selected. However, after all input fails, you must use the traditional password to log on. Therefore, although it is more difficult to use image passwords, you can use traditional passwords for logon. However, it provides good protection for password theft by using software such as keyboard records. In addition, because the Windows Live password is used, the image password can protect the security of the Windows Live account to a certain extent. We hope that the system account password can be set separately from the WindowsLive password.
8. For traditional PCs, the image password and PIN code functions are quite weak. However, you can set multiple passwords. If one of them is forgotten, you can use another password to log on. In addition, you can use a traditional password to log on to the PC. After all, Windows8 is not only designed for PCs, but cannot be too demanding.
