Background: The company's existing domain control server, whether hardware or software are very backward, has gradually failed to meet the demand. The goal is to replace the existing Server 2003 domain control with a more powerful server within one of the server R2 virtual machines as a new domain control.

1. Open the ad Domain and trust relationship on Server 2003, prompting the domain and forest to have a functional level of 2003, respectively.

2, copy the Server 2008 disc image in the Support/adprep directory to 2003, respectively, run: adprep32/forestprep,

adprep32 /DomainPrep, adprep32/domainprep /gpprep, adprep32/rodcprep spread architecture. (Adprep is 64-bit and cannot be run on 32-bit Server 2003 so use Adprep32.exe)

3, Server 2008 plus domain, run DCPROMO upgrade to domain control, restart.

4. Run the "regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll" Registration MMC snap-in and run the MMC console to add the ad schema, user and computer, domain, and trust relationships. Right-click the schema and change the ad server to 2008r2.

5. Change the schema master; Right-click the ad User and computer, change the domain controller as above, and then change the PCD, RID, and infrastructure operations master, respectively, and change the domain naming operations master to the AD domain and trust relationships as above. Run the NETDOM query FSMO to verify that the migration was successful.

6. Install AD on Windows Server R2, promote to DC, auto restart
