Windows Server 2003 Sets disk quotas

In a Windows Server 2003 system, you can write data to a shared folder without restrictions by default for users who have write access to the shared folder. This arbitrariness may result in a tight disk partition on the shared folder, so it is recommended that you set disk quotas for each user in order to ensure that shared folders are available to all users. After you set disk quotas, you can limit the amount of hard disk space that users have access to, as described in the following steps:

1th, right-click the disk partition where the shared folder is located in the My Computer window and select the Properties Shortcut command to open the Disk Properties dialog box. Then switch to the Quotas tab and leave the Enable quota management and deny disk space to users exceeding the quota limit check box selected. It is also recommended that the "Log events when users exceed the quota limit" and "log events when the user exceeds the warning level" two check boxes to record quota alarms in the log. Then click the Quota Entries button, as shown in Figure 2008123005.

2nd, open the Quota Entries for local Disks window, click the quotas → new Quota Entry menu command, locate and select the target user in the Select Users dialog box that opens (this example selects "Han Man") and clicks the OK button.

3rd, in the Add New Quota Entry dialog box that opens, select the limit disk space to radio box and set the space size to 100MB. Then set the space size to 95MB in the set warning level to edit box. Finally click the OK button to make the setting take effect, as shown in Figure 2008123006.

4th step, return to the quota Entries for Local Disk window, repeat the previous steps to create a new quota entry for another user, close the window after setting it up, return to the Local Disk Properties dialog box and click the OK button. Users who set quota entries can only use disk space within the specified capacity, as shown in Figure 2008123007.
