1. Select the Operating System

2. Backup before installing the system

Your computer inevitably contains a lot of information and emails. We cannot discard these items because of system installation? What should I do? We can back them up on other disks. If your computer has climbed down and the computer cannot be connected, you can manually shut down the computer. Then, press F8 to enter safe mode and perform the following operations.

(1) Back up data on the local disk

If the file system of your machine is in the FAT format and you have already divided the hard disk into at least two partitions, you can store all your emails, email accounts, communication books, and data materials on a non-system disk. (Do you always have no partitions? If you only use one zone, you are neither a super lazy nor a super rookie ^_^)

If you are using the system's built-in Outlook Express for sending and receiving on your mail terminal, you can export all emails, newsletters, and accounts.

Export letters: Open OE, Click Tools, open options, click maintenance, click storage folder, and click Change to change to a non-system disk, such as D: my letters. Confirm.

Export account: Open OE, Click Tools, Click Accounts, click emails, select emails one by one, click Export on the right, and set a non-system disk folder, for example, D: My account; save.

3. CMOS settings

Generally, when the computer is in normal use, you should set the first boot sequence to the activation disk when partitioning, and do not perform boot detection for other types of drive and soft drive. In this way, both the startup speed and the service life of the optical drive and the soft drive can be prolonged. At the same time, there is no "squeaking" noise during the start detection. However, when installing the system, we cannot start from the activation disk of the hard disk. What should I do? If the operating system of your hard disk is a FAT system, you 'd better format the system disk, such as a C: disk, to clear the garbage that remains for a long time. In this case, the first priority of the CMOS boot sequence is A: the disk (that is, the soft drive ).

Specific formatting operations:

Shut down, put the floppy disk to 98 to start, start, enter DOS Status, select 2 (with Drive boot), enter (excluding the colon) format c :; then, answer the system question and enter Y, press enter, and press enter all the way.

If the file system of your hard disk is NTFS, you do not want to format the hard disk, or you have already formatted the hard disk, you must set your COMS as the first boot drive.

CMOS settings: (the Award motherboard is used as an example. Other motherboards are also basically the same)

Start the computer press DEL key (some computers are F2 Key), enter the CMOS settings, enter the bios features setup, and then enter the Boot Sequence press the up and down key to select CD-ROM, C,, press ESC, F10, Y, and enter. manually shut down the instance or press reset after the disc is installed. (It is best to install the CD with the auto-start function)

4. Install the system (the following uses windows xp as an example)

I chose a complete Windows XP installation CD without any cracking. Start the computer. When the words "press any key to start the disc" appears, press enter to copy the installer and check the size and format of the system disk; when selecting the file format of the system hard disk, it is best to select FAT32 instead of NTFS. Although the NTFS file system greatly improves the stability, speed, and hard disk management of the operating system, NTFS only supports Windows NT, Windows, and Windows XP with NT as the kernel, DOS, Windows ME, and Windows 98 are not supported. Therefore, it is not suitable for people who often play software. Once a system crash occurs, you may need to re-partition and format the system under NTFS. As long as you re-partition the system, the data and data on the hard disk will be completely destroyed. (This is a lesson I have learned from countless losses. When I used windows, I used the NTFS system to prevent the severe damage of the CIH virus to the system and hardware, but now it's too easy to defend against and kill CIH.) In the FAT32 file system, you only need to format a 98 or Me boot disk and then reload the C disk, it is not afraid to lose data and data on all hard disks.

If you have installed Windows XP in dos, first import the smartdrv.exefile (named smartdrv.exe in win98's installation directory) to 98 to start the floppy disk. You can run the command before installation to greatly improve the installation speed. If you re-install XP without changing the original system and operating system on the system hard disk, the "Upgrade/new installation" dialog box appears during the installation process, in this case, you must select upgrade unless you want to install the dual operating system on your host.
