The console command for Windows XP (including Windows 2000) is a very effective tool for diagnosing and testing and restoring system functionality in the event of some unexpected system occurrence. (Of course, you can press F8 after system startup, insert XP system CD to enter) this time to tidy up a bit, I hope to help you:

Bootcfg

The bootcfg command initiates configuration and failback (for most computers, that is, Boot.ini files).

The bootcfg command with the following parameters is only available when using the Recovery Console. You can use the bootcfg command with different parameters at the command prompt.

Usage:

Bootcfg/default Sets the default boot entry.

Bootcfg/add adds a Windows installation to the boot list.

Bootcfg/rebuild repeats all Windows installation procedures and allows the user to select what to Add.

Note: Before using Bootcfg/rebuild, you should back up Boot.ini files by bootcfg/copy command.

Bootcfg/scan scans all disks for Windows installation and displays the results.

Note: These results are stored statically and are used for this session. If the disk configuration changes during this session, you must restart the computer and then scan the disk again to obtain an updated scan.

Bootcfg/list lists the entries that are already in the boot list.

Bootcfg/disableredirect disables redirection in the boot loader.

Bootcfg/redirect [Portbaudrrate] | [Usebiossettings]

Enables redirection in the boot loader by specifying a configuration.

Example:

Bootcfg/redirect COM1 115200

Bootcfg/redirect usebiossettings

Hkdsk

Create and display a status report for the disk. The Chkdsk command can also list and correct errors on the disk.

Chkdsk commands that contain the following parameters are available only when using the Recovery Console. You can use CHKDSK commands with different parameters at the command prompt.

vol. [drive:] [CHKDSK [drive:] [/P] [r]

Parameter has no

If you do not take any arguments, CHKDSK displays the status of the disk in the current drive.

Drive: Specifies the drive to be checked by CHKDSK.

/P performs a thorough check even if the drive is not within the scope of CHKDSK's inspection. This parameter does not make any changes to the drive.

/R finds bad sectors and recovers readable information. The/p parameter is implied.

Attention

The Chkdsk command requires a Autochk.exe file. If you cannot find the file in the startup directory (the default is \%systemroot%\system32), you will try to find it on the Windows installation CD. If you have a multiple-boot system computer, you must ensure that the command is used on a drive that contains Windows.

Diskpart

Create and delete partitions on the hard drive. The DiskPart command is available only when using the Recovery Console.

DiskPart [/add |/delete] [device_name |drive_name |partition_name] [size]

Parameter has no

If you do not take any arguments, the DiskPart command starts the DiskPart version of Windows character mode.

/add

Create a new partition.

/delete
