Windows operating system graphical maintenance Overview [winpe]

Lead: create a super system maintenance boot disc that can be used to boot the computer to a GUI similar to Windows, and connect to the network and support file systems such as fat, NTFS, and CDFs. With it, even if the computer crashes completely and cannot be started, the data can be easily rescued, and even backed up to the server on the LAN. In addition, you can integrate some common tools to the CD, such as anti-virus software and compression software.

When a problem occurs in the system, we usually use a boot floppy disk to enter DOS to solve the problem. With the popularization of NTFS file systems in Windows 2000, XP, and 2003, the problem becomes more complex. Simply starting a floppy disk cannot meet daily needs. Microsoft has launched a boot disc called Windows preinstallation environment (Windows pre-installation environment), which provides support for networks and NTFS partitions, however, it is customized for OEM and enterprise customers, which is difficult for common users and is a command line interface, which is inconvenient to use.

The Barts PE Builder tool introduced today allows you to create a system maintenance boot disc with a full graphical interface, which supports network and remote management functions, it supports fat, NTFS, CDFs, and other common file systems. It can be integrated with common system maintenance tools and is suitable for system maintenance.

　　I. Preparations　

1. system installation CD. When creating Barts PE Builder (bpeb), you need to extract files from Windows XP or Windows Server 2003. Therefore, you need to have the corresponding installation disc or the installation file backed up on the hard disk, windows XP requires that the SP1 Patch be installed, either for the home or Professional Edition.

2. Files supported by the network. To make the CD support the network, two files are required: factory.exeand netcfg.exe. these two files are also called x86factory.exeand x86netw..exe.

To get factory.exe, you can install the "deploy. find it in the cab file, or [Download] Windows Server 2003 resource toolkit from [here], and use WinRAR to open the "rktools. msi, in which "deploy. you can find it in the cab package.

The netcmd.exe file can be created from winpe1.2 and ERD commander.

3. Chinese plug-in. Currently, bpeb is designed for English systems. Therefore, you need to download a Chinese support plug-in to enable bpeb to display Chinese normally.

Ii. Create an ISO image for a CD　

 

Step 1: Decompress the downloaded bpeb package to a temporary directory, for example, C: \ download. after that, copy the two files factory.exe.zip and “netw..exe to the C: \ Download directory, and then open the downloaded Chinese plug-in package, decompress the "CHS" directory and its files to the C: \ Download \ plugin directory.

Step 2: Double-click pebuilder.exe in the C: \ downloaddirectory to run bpeb. Click "Next" on the welcome page to continue.

Step 3: In the "Source" step, "path to Windows installation files" is used to set the installation file path for Windows XP or 2003. If the file is backed up on the hard disk, click "…" Select a directory. If you want to install a CD, enter the CD drive letter.

In "path to your already installed Windows", set the current system path. If you do not need to worry about it, the software will automatically select it.

"Add files/folders this (custom) directory to is0" can select files or folders to be added to the ISO image (because the ISO file created by bpeb is only about MB, to avoid wasting disk space, you can add other content ).

Step 4: click "Next" to go to the "network" configuration step. Select the "enable network support" option to enable the network function of the created CD. The following path software is automatically selected. Of course, if you do not need a network, you do not have to choose. Step 5: click "Next" to go to the "plug-ins" step. The plug-in function is an important feature of bpeb. Through the plug-in, many common software can be integrated into the boot disc, such as ERD 2002, ghost32, irfanview, and total commander. Here we take total commander as an example to introduce the software integration method.

First, select "Total Commander V5" in the "plugin" list on the interface, and click the "eable/disable" button below. A prompt is displayed, indicating that the file cannot be found. Write down the names of the files listed after "missing files", and copy these files from the installation directory of total commander to the "C: \ Download \ plugin \ Total Commander V5" directory, return to the bpeb interface, click "Total Commander V5" again, and then click "eable/disable". You can see that "no" is changed to "yes. You can add other tools to be integrated according to this method.

★In this step, be sure to check whether "yes" is displayed on the right side of the "simplified Chinese support" plug-in. If it is "no", you may not copy the Chinese support plug-in correctly.

★If you want to integrate the tools not listed in the list, you need to create the "inf" configuration file for the program in the plug-in directory, in c: \ Download \ plugin \! The custom. inf file with the basic framework already exists in the Custom directory and can be directly modified. For more information about how to configure the INF file, see the description of the built-in infhelp.htm file in the C: \ downloaddirectory. Note that not all Windows programs can run on the bpeb boot disc. You need to verify which programs can be used. In addition, it is better to find the green software that does not need to write data in the registry. It is more convenient to make the software. Of course, you can also integrate the software that needs to write data into the registry, but the configuration file is more complex.

Step 4: click "Next" to go to the "output" step, set the output directory of the CD file in "output directory", and set the ISO file storage path in the following path.

We recommend that you select the "Create ISO image" option to create a bootable ISO disc image file. Otherwise, you must manually generate an ISO image.

Step 5: click "Next". bpeb will automatically extract files from the system disk and the current system to create the boot disc. This process takes about two minutes, click "Next" when "build process done" is displayed.

3. Burn the boot Disc

 

Open the c: \ Download directory (or the directory you specified) and you can see the generated cd iso image file "pebuilder. ISO ", use the Nero and other burning tools to engrave this ISO file on the CD. If you feel that the capacity is too small and the disk is wasted, you can also use ultraiso and other tools to add other files.

When using the ultraiso tool to modify the cd iso image file, you must click "File> Properties" and set the CD File System to "Joliet ", in the following "Joliet file name format", select "extension (110)". Otherwise, the i386 \ winsxs directory contains a long file name, some programs in the re-edited ISO image cannot be used. We recommend that you directly burn the data to a small MB disk, which is not only convenient but also elegant.

It is strongly recommended that after generating the ISO image file, especially with ultraiso and other tools after modification, first with the CD-RW disc for testing, normal and then decide whether to burn.

　　Iv. trial experience

After burning the disc, set boot from the disc in CMOS and use the bpeb disc to start the computer. After the startup is complete, you can see a graphic operation platform, and there is a "go" button in the lower left corner, which is equivalent to the Windows Start Menu. After clicking, you can enable many common functions:

1. "command prompt (CMD)" can be used to open the command line status, where you can perform the same operations as in winpe.

2. Different screen resolutions can be switched from the "Screen Resolution" menu.

3. In "program", you can enable tools such as WordPad, calculator, and integrated total commander.

4. if you want to use the network function, you can select start network services in the "System" menu to start the network function, and select "ip config" to view the network status, then select "Remote Desktop Connection" in "program" to run the Remote Desktop Connection Program.

If you integrate ERD 2002 or ERD 2003 on the CD, the feature will be more powerful. Select "program → winternals ERD Commander 2003 → TCP config" to configure the network IP address (GUI). The following "file restore" and "file search" are file recovery and file search tools. Select the "set ERD target root" command and set the Windows directory path for the 2000/XP/2003 operating system), you can use the following "Regedit" to maintain the system registry, you can directly change the administrator password without entering the old password. It is very useful when you forget the administrator password.

　　5. Personalized PE Builder　

Change Background

If it is difficult to see the background of the bpeb startup optical disk, there is no relationship, just replace the nu2.bmp file in the bpeb file directory and regenerate the ISO image. Of course, you can also directly replace the nu2.bmp file in the generated ISO image file i386 \ system32 ".

Chinese menu

The "go" menu of bpeb uses XML database files, which makes the interface Chinese easy. Open the "nu2menu" directory under the bpeb plug-in directory and open "nu2menu" in notepad. XML "file," "indicates that the preceding English string is the menu name. Replace it with Chinese and save it. Run nu2menu.exe to preview the modified effect directly on the Windows system (in fact, this program can also be used as a utility). If you are satisfied, regenerate the ISO image.

In fact, you can integrate other tools such as anti-virus, hardware detection, data recovery, and disk partitioning, which are the most frequently used functions in system maintenance. Starting a CD with bpeb is easier and safer to operate in the graphic interface than using it in DOS.
