Windows Quick Start Menu Settings tips

we used to use the Windows Quick Launch menu, although it is convenient but also have a lot of regrets, such as not support grouping operations, not support custom folder colors. We can now use software true Launch bar to make up for these regrets and achieve a more powerful "quick start".

It should be noted that after the software is installed, we can neither find the software shortcuts on the desktop nor find the software's main program or configuration program entry through the Start menu program group. In the program group menu, you can see only a few shortcuts (Figure 1) with insignificant component management, skin installation, informational links, and so on.

So how exactly is the software setup going to get in? Right-click in the taskbar space and choose Toolbars, and the Launch bar option is seen in the subordinate menu (Figure 2). When this option is selected, a Quick Launch bar similar to the one we used to see earlier in the taskbar appears.

1. Ready the Software icon service to start quickly

Now we want to create our own group menu on the taskbar, for example, to create the 3 menus for System tools, Office software, and network Tools. To do this, we first create 3 folders with the name described above in a folder on the system disk, and then save the software shortcuts that you want to manage into the above folders (Figure 3).

Small tip:

These folders also support the creation of subfolders to generate submenus.

2. Generate icon menu implementation fast speed up

Right-click on the Quick Launch bar that you just generated, select new → menu in the right-click menu (Figure 4), enter the menu name "System Tool" in the Create Menu dialog box, and select the Category folder "System Tools" folder that you just created in the virtual folder path.

Click the "Finish" button to complete the System Tools menu item (Figure 5). The new System Tools menu icon appears on the toolbar.

Create the remaining other category menus in the same way. So, on the Quick Launch bar, we've also set up a quick Start menu that enables the "fast up" menu selection effect (Figure 6).

Tip: Drag-and-drop operations manage shortcut items

In the future, if you want to add a new item to the category menu, there is no need for complex operations. All you need to do is drag the program icon on the desktop to the corresponding shortcut Start Group menu icon, and the desktop shortcut item will be automatically moved to the group menu.

3. Beautify the group menu to create a personalized vision

From the shortcut group menu set up above, we can see that these menu folders appear to be golden-colored folders, and the appearance of the plain has no characteristics. The text color is also our common black text. We need to customize a more personalized menu of grouped programs on this basis.

Right-click the New menu icon and select the "Appearance" item to customize the menu icon's text label, text color, etc. to reflect your own characteristics. Select the appearance → text color, select the base color in the pop-up swatch, or open the palette with the "More Colors" option, and choose your own personalized text color (Figure 7). Select appearance → text label to let the folder and its name appear together so that you can identify its contents. However, it does not matter if you do not display a text label, because the folder label information is automatically displayed when you hover over the folder.

In addition, if you feel that the default icon style is too single, you can also choose the "appearance → change Icon" button (or with the Ctrl+i key combination), for your categorizer icon to assign a more personalized icon (the icon can also be made by yourself) (Figure 8).

After you have finished customizing the menu items in the taskbar, adjust the position and size of the menu item on the taskbar, and then lock the taskbar again, so that you are finished making the Quick Start menu system.

Extended reading: Virtual folders organize all resources

In the shortcut Launch Bar Group folder, not only can organize the program icon, we can also use their own commonly used websites, e-books, documents, etc., organized into categories. This is a virtual folder area where all the content is stored as shortcuts rather than entity files. In addition to using the software to organize the Quick Launch bar grouping menu, we can also create our own group menu next to the system tray without the help of a third-party tool.
