File Server : A device whose function is to provide files to the server. It strengthens the function of memory, simplifies the management of network data. Characteristics

C/S structure : The basic principle is to decompose the computer application task into many subtasks, which is done by multiple computers, that is, the principle of "function distribution" is adopted. The client finishes data processing, data representation and user interface functions, and the server completes the core functions of DBMS (Database management system). This kind of customer requests the service, the server provides the service the processing way is one kind of new computer application pattern.

The resource that each consumer needs to access is placed in a dedicated computer called Server, and the consumer does not need to access other computers, so its user account needs to be created only in the server and the computer (client) that is using it (in the Windows Server 2008, if "Password protected sharing" is turned off, simply create an account in the server, adding computers or users, without complicated operations, for larger networks. This way of managing network resources is called "Client/server", referred to as "C/S", that is, client/server structure.

and b/s difference

There is no essential difference between C/s and b/s: b/S is based on the specific communication protocol (HTTP) C/S architecture, that is, b/S is included in C/s, is a special C/s architecture.

The reason why B/s architecture on C/s architecture is to meet the needs of thin client, integrated client, the ultimate goal is to save the cost of client update, maintenance, and wide-area resource sharing.

(1) b/s belongs to C, the browser is only a special client;

Server policy settings that affect access to client computers

Hidden Shared folders:

    • To set a hidden shared folder: Add "$" after the share name

    • Windows default share: C $, d$ 、......

sharing permissions and NTFS permissions :

    • Share permissions are valid only for users who are accessing over the network;

    • NTFS permissions are valid for both local access and network access users;

    • If the shared folder is on an NTFS file system, consider NTFS permissions;

    • The most restrictive permissions in both permissions are valid when accessed over the network.
