Knowledge Point Analysis:

When you install a Windows system, it often occurs when you choose to install the partition interface prompt, "Setup cannot locate an existing system partition, or create a new system partition", sometimes by removing all of the existing partitions, the repartition can be resolved. In some cases (such as the addition of SSD, new hard disk, etc.) repartition can not be resolved.

The user disk encountered this time has important data and cannot remove the entire partition from the repartition. Through the PE boot to enter, in the PE installation system after the reboot can not boot, found that the existing disk has no active partitions:

The partition on which the system will be installed is active, and the system is installed under PE or direct boot mode, as shown in the following illustration:

A few examples of similar prompts are then resolved in this way. Analysis Summary The reason why Setup cannot locate an existing system partition or create a new system partition is that the selected partition is not an active partition, and that the Setup program cannot automatically create a system boot partition (such as a 100M partition of the Win7 system) because of the number of primary partitions on the disk.

Operation Steps:

Programme I:
PE or a DOS tool with Disk Management, set the partition that needs to install the system as the active partition.
Programme II:

Set up the active partition using the DiskPart tool that is installed by the installer:
In the Select Installation partition interface Press the "shift" + "F10" key to bring up the command prompt interface, enter DiskPart press ENTER to run the DiskPart tool.
Enter "list disk" to see the current number of disks, depending on the size to determine the disk to install the system;

Enter select disk + disk numbering to choose disks, such as: select Disk 0;

Enter "list Partition" to view the partition number of the selected disk, depending on the size of the system partition you want to install;

Enter the SEL partition+ partition number to select the partition to which you want to install the system, for example: SEL partition 1;

Enter the detail partition command for more information about the currently in-focus partition, as shown in the following illustration: (You can see now that the partition activity status is NO)

Enter Active to set the currently selected partition as the active partition;

Now the "active" becomes "yes" in this partition detail.
