Windows XP and Windows 7

Symptom:
After Windows XP and Windows 7 are uninstalled, Windows 7 is still available for the system startup items.
Cause:
1. When uninstalling Windows 7, you can directly format the disk where the Windows 7 system is located.
2. This causes a residual Win7 boot item in the boot menu, which is invalid. By default, the system automatically enters the invalid Win7 boot item during startup, resulting in a "black screen ", you have to restart and manually select the XP system.
Solution:
Method 1:
1. Enter the XP system, place the Win7 installation CD in the optical drive, or use the virtual optical drive to load the ISO file of the Win7 installation image. Assume that the drive letter is X.
2. Open the Command Prompt window. In the Command Prompt window, enter X: \ boot \ bootsect.exe/nt52 all/force, press enter, and wait a few seconds. The system will delete the Win7 startup Item, the Command Prompt window displays success and other characters, prompting that the operation is successful.
3. Then, exit the Command Prompt window, bring up the optical drive or uninstall the virtual optical drive, restart the system, and you will find that the startup Item of Win7 has disappeared.
Note:
The hosts file is extracted to the local hard disk and placed in a folder other than the system partition, for example, in the 123 folder of partition D, in this way, you can run the following command in the Command Prompt window to delete the Win7 startup Item: D: \ 123 \ bootsect.exe/nt52 all/force
Method 2:
In the XP system, place the XP installation disk into the optical drive, restart the system to load the XP installation program from the optical drive, and then press the R key to go to the system for repair, enter the administrator password (if no password is set, do not enter it). Press enter, enter fixboot, and press Enter. Then, enter exit to exit.
