1. Get back to XP Style "start" menu
Right-click the Vista "Start" button, select "Properties" from the Pop-up right-click menu, select the "Traditional Start Menu" item, and then click OK. The Vista "Start" menu changes back to the XP system style, and it's much easier to use.

Let Vista and XP coexist peacefully
The above method is a choice of two choices, at the same time, either use Vista style or use XP style, both can not coexist. In fact, without changing the original settings of Vista, you can also use some of the features of XP. The following approach allows us to use either Vista's personalization window or the XP-style desktop Properties window quickly.
1th step: In other Windows XP system, into the system directory "C:windowssystem32", the file desk.cpl copied to the U disk or other removable disk, and then renamed to Xp-desk.cpl ( Renamed to prevent the same name as the same file in Vista.
Step 2nd: Copy the xp-desk.cpl to the Vista system directory "c:windowssystem32" folder, click "Start → Control Panel" and select "Classic View" on the left, and you will see a new "desktop" entry (with the same name as the Control Panel item in XP). When you want to use the XP-style Desktop Properties Settings window, double-click the "desktop" item. The first run will pop up the window and ask if the Control Panel program is working properly. If normal, click "This control panel works properly" in the prompt box to confirm it.
Small Tips
In fact, not necessarily to copy the CPL file to the System32 directory, randomly placed in other separate directories (such as: c:xp-cpl) can also be used, double-click to run the corresponding CPL file. In fact, in Vista, XP has some of the control Panel program slightly modified still placed in the XP system download directory. For easy invocation, you can also copy them to a separate directory (such as: c:xp-cpl) to be invoked at any time. The XP Control Panel program that is reserved under Vista is simply listed below (although there are desk.cpl, but it is much simpler than the XP desk.cpl):
Appwiz.cpl Add or Remove Programs
Joy.cpl game controller
Hdwwiz.cpl Add Hardware Wizard
Inetcpl.cpl Internet Properties
Intl.cpl Regional and Language Options
Main.cpl Mouse Properties
Mmsys.cpl sound and audio device properties
Ncpa.cpl Network Connection
Powercfg.cpl Power Option Properties
TELEPHON.CPO location Information
Sysdm.cpl System Properties
Timedate.cpl system Time
Wscui.cpl Windows Security Center
