First: Speed up the XP system boot
1. Open Registry Editor, start--run the input regedit sequentially expand hkey _ local _ machine--system--currentcontrolset--control--session manager--Memory M anagement--Prefetchparameters Branch, locate the Enableprefetcher subkey in the right-hand window, and change its default value of "3" to "1".
2. Next to the right mouse button on the desktop, click My Computer, select Properties, select the Hardware tab in the Open window, and click the Device Manager button. Expand IDE ATA/ATAP Controller in the Device Manager window. Double-click the secondary IDE Channel option to select the Advanced tab in the pop-up dialog box, in device 0, in device type, change the original automatic detection to none, and then exit. The "Primary IDE Channel" method of modification is consistent.

Second: Speed up the shutdown of XP system
1. When shutting down in Windows XP, the system will always send messages to the running program and remote server, telling them that the system is shutting down and waiting for a response before the system starts shutting down. To speed down the shutdown, we can set the time to automatically end the task.
2. The method is: Open Registry Editor, expand Hkey_current _ USER-control Panel--desktop Branch, locate the Autoendtasks subkey and set it to 1. Then the "Hungapptimeout" subkey under this branch is set to "1000", the "Waittokillservice" is changed to "1000" (the default is 5000)!
