WDS (Wireless distribution system), wireless distributed systems: is constructs under HFSS or DSSS, may allow the base station and the base station to be able to communicate, compared is has the WDS function is may when the wireless network repeater, and may many Taiwan base station to one station, There are currently many wireless base stations with WDS.

WDS transmits the data of the wired network through the wireless network, which transmits the network data to another wireless network environment, or another wired network. Because through the wireless network forms the virtual network route, therefore some people call this is the wireless Network Bridge connection function. Strictly speaking, the wireless Network Bridge link function usually refers to one-to-one, but the WDS architecture can do one-to-many, and the bridge can be the object of wireless network card or cable system. So WDS should have at least two of the same function AP, the maximum number depends on the manufacturer's design framework to determine.

Most simply: WDS allows wireless APs to be bridged (relayed) wirelessly, without affecting the capabilities of their wireless AP coverage

Several modes of wireless router application

1.AP mode

The model is simply to switch our wired network into a wireless network! And then connect to a variety of wireless terminals, such as laptops or desktops with wireless connections. Connect the phone with WiFi and so on.

4

Wireless client Mode

This model is simply to switch our wireless network into a wired network! Then connect to a variety of devices with RJ45 cable ports, such as connecting to the computer when the wireless card is used. Connect to dm500s above so that our dm500s and routers do not need to connect the network cable can be decrypted and shared!

5

Point to point bridging mode

This model says the simple point is to apply wireless 2 wired LAN together! For example, there is a wired LAN with 3 pcs in point A! There's a 5-PC LAN on point B! 2 networks need to share data and not be able to set up a line! Of course, can also be used for wireless play online game NOTE: When the AP is set in bridge mode, our wireless card is not to search any signal!

6

Point to point bridging mode

This model says that the simple point is to use wireless to connect multiple wired LANs together! For example, there is a wired LAN with 3 pcs in point A! Point B has a local area network of 5 computers! C Point has 8 computers! D.... Several networks need to share data and not set up a line! In this situation, the bridge can be used for a long time! NOTE: When the AP is set in bridging mode, our wireless card is not able to search any signal!

7

Wireless relay Mode

The simple point is that the weak wireless signal received in the amplification and then fired out! In order to extend the coverage of wireless signals, for example, we can use a laptop in the window to find the signal and can connect to the Internet! But in the room after a long time no signal! Then we can put 1 wireless relays in the window to forward the signal! So we can stay indoors for a long time and easily surf the internet

Configuration steps:

To view the wireless MAC addresses of 2 wireless routers first

9

Main router, AP1 configuration diagram:

1, in the Address bar, enter "192.168.1.1", and then in the pop-up window, enter the default username: admin Password: admin

10

In the WAN port settings, set the current Internet access mode, in this case, PPPoE dialing.

11

Set wireless basic information, change the default SSID to AP1, open Bridge function, and enter AP2 Wireless MAC address in the box below.

12

Keep DHCP Enabled

13

Secondary router, AP2 configuration diagram:

1, enter 192.168.1.1 In the Address bar, then enter the default account number: admin, default password: admin

14

In the LAN port settings, change the LAN port IP to: 192.168.1.2, and then click Save.

15

The WAN port settings remain the same by default.

16

In the wireless parameters basic setting, change the SSID to AP2, open the bridge function, and fill in the AP1 MAC address in the box below.

17

In the DHCP service settings, disable the DHCP service. Then click "Save".

The basic configuration for point-to-point wireless bridging is complete. Use a wireless client whether connected to AP1 or AP2 can be normal internet!

18

Secure Password settings.

If you do not want unauthorized users to access our AP, turn on the security setting in the "Wireless parameters" basic configuration, the encryption type is only the default WEP, the key format is ASCII, and the key type can optionally be 128-bit or 64-bit, depending on your needs, where 64 bits are selected. Password: 1234567890

(AP1 and AP2 encryption are configured, both sides of the same configuration)

AP3, AP4, AP5 Configuration and AP2, in the "Wireless parameters" basic configuration, are filled in the AP1 wireless MAC address, all disable the DHCP service.

In the 2,ap1 "Wireless parameters" basic configuration, fill in the wireless MAC address of AP2, AP3, AP4, AP5.

3, all wireless AP channels are the same, the SSID is different

21st

The configuration of point-to-point wireless bridging is complete. Connect to AP1-AP5 using a wireless client any one can surf the internet properly!

Attention matters

Device Selection:

The wireless router or AP that builds the WDS network supports the WDS feature, and for the best compatibility, select the same brand of wireless products for your use.

Frequency band Settings:

The wireless router or AP that builds the WDS network must have the same wireless frequency band as the router or AP is "Automatically selected", and it is recommended that you manually set it to ensure the same band

SSID settings:

A wireless router or AP that builds a WDS network can have different SSID settings, at which point the client does not have wireless roaming on this network, and the same SSID is set to implement wireless roaming.

Wireless security Settings:

The wireless router or AP that builds the WDS network must have the same password set in the security settings, but the security mechanism can be different. When the security mechanism is not set at the same time, the client will not be able to realize wireless roaming in this network, the same security mechanism should be set up to realize wireless roaming.
