Wireless LAN If you want to connect the Internet, the most important thing is to have a terminal connected to the Internet, this terminal is a wireless router or wireless AP. The biggest difference is that the wireless router not only has a WAN, generally has four LAN port, remove the wireless function it is wired four-port router, while the wireless AP is only a WAN, but a simple wireless coverage. Understand the wireless access device below we will teach you step-by-step installation.
Wireless router, AP Installation
Next, there is the connection between the hardware. If you have a wireless AP and a desktop in your home, you should also have a wired switch, of course, if you choose a wireless router, you don't need a switch. Wireless AP, wireless router connection is similar, the following we will be introduced to the wireless router. We have to select a suitable location within the scope of work (so that each terminal shrouded in the wireless router's wireless range) put the wireless router after the power supply, pull out the antenna behind the end, and then use network cable to connect it with the ADSL modem.
The wireless router itself has a network cable that can connect to its superior device (such as a switch or router, Internet connection point such as an ADSL cat, etc.), thereby connecting the wireless network it covers with other networks (wired or wireless). If the access point is ADSL cat broadband router, then you can press the Crystal head to follow the 568A, while the other side follow the 568B standard method (that is, the crossover line) to the wireless network access point and ADSL cat broadband router between the direct link to do a wire; of course, If the wireless network access point is connected to the hub or switch, then both sides follow the 568A or 568B standard (that is, parallel lines).
Note: Now the wireless router, or wireless AP WAN Port has a function of automatic flip, that is to say two lines of line crossover or parallel lines can be, he can adjust their own. On the production of network cable, you can refer to the 51CTO Network channel article "Diagram: RJ45 Crystal Head cable practice."
In general, the wireless router's default configuration can also be used directly after connecting to the superior device. But doing so would seem to be a guarantee of management and safety. In addition, many wireless routers have a setup wizard, we can easily complete. First remove the network cable connected with the modem connecting the router, also by its default IP address into the Web settings interface.
You can use a crossover line to connect to the computer you are using, one end to the wireless router LAN port (note not WAN), and then, open IE browser, in the Address bar to enter the wireless router's default IP address (please refer to your product specification, generally for http:// 192.168.1.1), then you will be prompted to enter the wireless router account and password into the configuration program, also refer to the manual input.
First step: Note the IP address of the wireless router. Because eventually we want to connect the wireless router and modem, so the IP address of the two should not be the same, please follow the actual modification, just want to ensure that the subnet mask the same.
The second step: like the modem, here we also want to open the wireless router DHCP service function. Please find the appropriate option to open.
Step three: Determine the WAN connection type. Since we have DHCP enabled, we should select "Automatically obtain IP address".
Fourth step: Note the SSID number of the router, which is the authentication identification of the network card that can access the wireless networks normally.
There are some questions to be clarified here. The first is to enable dynamic IP address, you will be required to set the starting IP address, depending on your wireless router IP address, according to the wireless router IP address of the last digit start to 255 can be.
Another is that some wireless routers will allow you to set the number of users, depending on your starting IP address settings, such as the start IP address is 150, then you can set the maximum number of users will be only 105 (255-150).
OK, just take these steps to complete the router settings, restart the router to make the settings effective.
Non-normal solution for wireless router and AP Network
One wireless router, the wireless AP can theoretically connect to 254 computers, because a different SSID is set (or WEP password can be set), so you don't have to worry about other unknown users accessing your network. The key point is that if the network connection is found to be abnormal after installation, you can:
① test signal strength. If you can ping the access point from a wired client but not from the wireless client, the access point may be problematic. You can use the wireless AP program provided by the measurement signal strength of the function to check the signal strength, such as too weak may be the wireless AP quality problems. If the signal state is bad (the signal state can be detected with Windows XP "wireless network Connection" or "Wireless access point" attached software).
When you use Windows XP, you will see a window showing the status of the connection as long as you click the Network connection icon in the taskbar. If the display has 4 or 5 green lines can also, if only 1, 2, you can determine the signal state is not good, you can adjust the AP and wireless network card placement position and antenna angle, in order to achieve the best signal strength.
② try to change the channel. If you suddenly find your wireless AP signal weak, you are not making any physical changes. You can try to change the access point and the channel of a wireless user or try to add an external antenna to see if this enhances the signal. Because some new cordless telephones (or microwaves, etc.) are also running at 2.4GHz frequencies (using the same frequency as the 802.11B wireless network), this may interfere with your wireless network.
③ Check the SSID configuration. Do not forget to change the SSID (Service Set Identifier) configuration when you join other wireless networks, and if the SSID is not configured correctly, you will not be able to ping the access point or connect to the network.
④ check the WEP key. Many wireless network configuration issues are related to the WEP protocol, and troubleshooting WEP issues requires extra scrutiny. Also, for WEP to work, the access point and client configuration are correct. Some clients have a configuration that seems to be fine, but cannot communicate using WEP and access points, in which case you can restart the access point, restore the defaults, and then reinstall the WEP configuration, and then WEP will be available.
⑤ Click the Wireless network icon in the taskbar with the right mouse button. On the next menu, select the view available wireless network command, and you will see the Wireless Network Connection dialog window. The dialog window shows any SSID on your current channel, and you do not have a connection to the wireless network. If your wireless network name appears in this list, you are not connected to the network, if your connection is good, then your configuration may have problems. Also, you will not be able to connect to the wireless network if you need to enter the WEP password correctly (if any).
