When your database crashes in a simple operation, the database can be corrupted. To solve this problem, we need to fix the database.

To fix a database, first require that the database be opened as a manager when other users shut down the database, click the Tools menu, point to Database Utilities, and then click the Compress and Repair Database command. Access automatically completes the repair work.

In this command, there is also a "compression" operation, when we delete the form or report, Access does not return the space they occupy, to use this part of the space, you must use the compression operation.

Convert Database

Because of the different data structures of different versions of an Access database, databases created in different versions of Access require the transformation of the database files between different versions in other versions of Access.

First, let's talk about converting the old version of the database to the version of the database that "Access2000" can receive. Click the Open button on the toolbar to select the old database file.

then click Open.

Click the Options button to decide that you want to convert the database to Access2000 format, and then click OK to convert the old version of the database to the database in Access2000.

If you want to convert the database in Access2000 to an older version of the database, you can also click the Tools menu and choose Database Utility, which pops up a menu and clicks "to the current version of Access database" on the menu. Then enter the converted database name and location. When you're done, click the Save button.

Generate an MDE file

If we share the module with other people, we want Access2000 to delete the editable source code. Your VBA program can continue to run, but other users cannot view or edit it.

We can convert this database into an "MDE" format, just click Tools, then select Database Utilities, then click Generate MDE file, then select the source database you want to make an MDE transformation, click the Build button, and then specify a location for it, and then type "MDE" The name of the file. and click the "Save" button to do so.

Solving the 2000 problem

Access2000 can correctly store date and date functions that relate to 2000. So the database that was built with it never had a 2000 problem, which was actually solved in Access version 7.0, but a 2000 problem with a database built with a previous version of 7.0.

We can load these databases into Access2000, convert them to new databases, and we can continue to use them after 2000 years.
