Author: User

There are three ways the shell command obtains the process ID:

1.
Ps-a |grep cmdname| awk ' {print '} '

2.

Pidof cmdname

3.

Pgrep cmdname

How do you do it in Ruby?

There are three ways to execute shell commands in Ruby:

%x: Executes the command and returns the execution result

EXEC: Executes the command and exits.

System: Executes the command and returns TRUE or false.

So here is the use of%x to get the return result.

For example, to Killsublime:

result =%x[pgrep Sublime]

%x[sudo kill-9 #{result}]

Of course, a single line of command can also:
System ("Ps-ef | grep Sublime | Grep-v grep | awk ' {print $} ' | Xargs-n1 kill-9 ")
