If you pay attention to it, we can see that the Windows 2000 and later operating systems will be logged out before shutdown, save user settings and a series of other operations, it takes a certain amount of time, as a result, too slow cancellation speeds have become a heart disease for many users. In fact, many cases are caused by the failure to release the user configuration file in time.
I. prerequisites-user profile)
To allow multiple users on the same computer to have their own personalized settings, Microsoft designed a user configuration file in Windows 2000/XP/2003 to save the settings for each user, after entering the user name and correct password in the Windows logon window, Windows will call the corresponding user configuration file to load the user's previous settings and file set. It includes all user-specific configuration settings, suchProgramProject, screen color, network connection, printer connection, mouse setting, and window size and position. When you log on to Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 for the first time, the system will create a dedicated configuration file for you, when you exit, the system will save your settings and uninstall the configuration file. The user's desktop, display, network, printer, mouse and other settings are managed by the user's configuration file.
Configuration files are divided into the following three types:
1. The local user configuration file is usually located in the path "C: \ Documents and Settings \ % username %.
2. the roaming user configuration file, which is set for users logging on to the network domain. It is generally located in a shared folder on the server, this ensures that users can log on to any PC in the domain to obtain their favorite user environment.
3. Force the user configuration file, which is enhanced on the basis of the roaming user configuration file. Although you can also modify the logon environment, it is only used this time and cannot be saved.
Do you know? How can I view the content of a user configuration file?
Go to c: \ Documents and Settings \ from my computer and find the directory where your user name is located. Or click Start> Run and enter "% USERPROFILE %". Press enter to open a window showing the content of your configuration file.
Ii. Clear configuration files to increase shutdown speed
In normal times, after logging on to Windows with our username, we will run many programs to complete various tasks. After you select to exit the current Logon (such as shutdown, restart, or logout), it is normal that Windows releases all resources occupied by the Enabled Program (such as memory space ). If this step is still not completed when the user logs out, the user configuration file cannot be uninstalled, and Windows will remain in this step.
There are many reasons for this phenomenon, which may be the problem of the operating system itself, or the encoding of third-party software (such as printer drivers and virus scanning programs) is incorrect. However, only the information provided by the system cannot find the real "murderer", and naturally it is impossible to solve the problem by taking the right remedy.
Tips
How can I view my troubles?
Events occurring on the computer are recorded in the event viewer. You can access Event Logs on your computer through "Control Panel> Management Tools> Event Viewer. Double-click an event to obtain details about a specific event. If you encounter a fault that is too slow to log out, you can find the corresponding report in the "application" event in the Event Viewer: The Event source is "userenv", the event ID is 1000, 1517, 1524, the prompt also contains information such as configuration file release failure.
Now, with the uphclean software, you can effectively analyze faults and automatically fix problems without our intervention.
Uphclean Archive
Software: Free Software Version: 1.5e
Software size: 284kb applicable platform: Windows 2000 \ nt \ XP \ Server 2003
: Http://download.microsoft.com/download/a/8/7/a87b3d05-cd04-4743-a23b-b16645e075ac/UPHClean-Setup.msi
After the download, double-click the installation file. After the installation is complete, the program will be automatically added to the startup project of the system. Therefore, when Windows starts uphclean, it starts to work hard, we can find it in the Task Manager (see figure 1 ).

Tips
If you cannot find the msvcp60.dll and msvcrt. DLL files during installation, you canHttp://support.microsoft.com/default.sapx? SCID = 1, 259403Download the vcredist.exe file, which contains the two required files.
Once uphclean is run, its default working mode is to allow the uninstallation of the configuration file, so that the system will not be slowed down due to the configuration file uninstallation failure. If you are a beginner and want to know which programs have caused a deregister fault, you can also ask uphclean to "generate a small Report": Open the Registry Editor, find [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ uphclean \ Parameters], double-click "report_only" in the right pane, and set the value to 1 (see figure 2 ). In this way, once uphclean finds a problem, you can get a report in the event viewer to know who is the culprit.
