How to install IIS
Step 1: Install IIS
A. Select "Add/delete programs" in the control panel and select "Add/delete Windows Components" in the displayed dialog box ".
B. Select to install Internet Information Service (IIS) in the check box that appears. This component requires about MB of space.
C. Click "Next" and add the Win2000 installation CD to the optical drive. The installer will copy the program file to the hard disk and click "end.
Step 2: basic configurations of Web servers in IIS
The basic configurations of Web servers in IIS include the following:
A. open the IIS server configuration window and Select Start> program> Administrative Tools> Internet Service Manager ", alternatively, you can choose ">" Control Panel ">" Administrative Tools ">" Internet Service Manager ". Window 3 is displayed.
B. In the displayed window, right-click "Default Web site" and select the "properties" menu.
C. in the displayed "Default Web site properties" window, select the "home directory" label to set the location of the Web content on the hard disk. The default directory is "C: \ Inetpub \ Wwwroot ", you can set it as needed (4 ).
D.select the document tab in the document window, set the initial Page name, for example, myfirstweb.htm, and add and move it to the top (5) of the list ).
E. check whether the default Web site has been started. If not, right-click "Default Web site", select "start", and enter the local IP address in the IE Address Bar, you can see that the home page you specified has been published on the Internet.
Here is just the most basic setting options for IIS. You can also set the "Default Web site attribute" mentioned above as needed to configure IIS security and other parameters.
Although IIS is easy to use, it also has many security vulnerabilities by default, including the famous Unicode and CGI vulnerabilities. Therefore, after IIS is installed, we recommend that you continue to download and install the security vulnerability patches SP1 and SP2 on the Microsoft homepage. In addition, it is recommended to convert the file system of the disk to the NTFS format. The partition of the installation system can be converted after the system is installed, or you can use tools such as PQMagic after the system is installed.
What is the number of IIS connections?
The number of IIS connections refers to the number of accesses from the accessed IP address to port 80, that is, the number of website files called, not the same as the number of simultaneous online users.
I can introduce the number of IIS connections as follows: if a door is 4 meters and each person's average width is 0.5 meters, 8 people can pass through the door at the same time, that is, the IIS of this door is 8, in the past 10 minutes, 100 people may pass through this door. The number of online users in this forum may be 100, and IIS may be 8, does it mean that eight people can request data in real time at the same time? No, because the program is different, and each program occupies a different number of IIS. Maybe it is a 2-meter-wide fat man, so only two people can pass through simultaneously. That is to say:
(1) The number of IIS requests in the same instant, which is not equal to the IP address.
(2) an IP address may occupy multiple IIS at a time. For example, a fat man occupies the IIS of four others.
(3) IIS refers to the number of concurrent threads, while online statistics refer to the number of concurrent threads, one is the number of people who enter the door during this time period.
Why does IIS fail to run ASP programs?
Before analyzing the problem, first try to access the pure static webpage in the website (pages suffixed with htm or html). If it cannot be displayed normally, it means that the problem is not on ASP itself.
Check IIS settings and check whether "application settings-execute permission-script only" is set. "configuration- ing" contains the asp extension. After checking the IIS settings, perform the following steps.
1. If the website itself has Global. asa, change it to Global. old and restart the website. Use NotePad to write down the code and save it as a test. asp file, which can be accessed in a browser. If the display is normal, the problem lies in the Global. asa file.
<% Response. Write "This is a test ASP page." %>
2. Set the application protection to "low" and restart the IISadmin thread. If the ASP page can be read in the browser, the IWAM account is faulty. If you still cannot access the ASP page, check "component service" of "Administrative Tools" to ensure that you can see the IIS package.
Note: If the component service cannot be opened (probably because the application is full of CPU), add or delete the component service on the control panel, add or delete the component service again, and restart the computer.
3. Return application protection to "medium" or "high" and add the IWAM account to the Administrator group. If the ASP page can be viewed at this time, IWAM has a permission problem. If ASP still cannot be displayed normally, run Synciwam. vbs in the DOS window using command lines.
C: \ Inetpub \ adminscripts> cscript synciwam. vbs
4. Solve the Problem of IWAM account permissions. Well, this is a long talk and I will post an article separately later.
5. Re-establish the IIS packages method:
Delete the following packages in the component service
IIS In-Process Applications
IIS Out-of-Process Pooled Applications
IIS Utilities
Enter the following command in the DOS window to recreate the package
% Windir % \ system32 \ inetsrv rundll32 wamreg. dll, CreateIISPackage
Turn off the component manager and re-open it. After seeing the three new packages, restart IIS (IISRESET) to check whether ASP Web pages can be browsed normally.
