Magento multi-language functions

The magento multi-language function is based on the view. You can create a store view in the background to create a multi-language store based on magento. This article explains how to create multilingual functions. First, go to the "manage stores" node, as shown below.

System-> Manage stores

After entering this page, if you have not performed any operations before. There should be only one row of records. This record is the default store after magento is installed. From left to right, the options are main website, main website store, and default Store View. These records represent the website name, store name, and store view in magento. We do not need to consider the two front-end settings. In the multi-language function, we only need to pay attention to the option of the last store view.

Click "Default Store View". After Entering the page, We can edit the view name. In multiple languages, there must be a default language setting. Here we use English as the default language. During the editing process, do not modify any options except name. Change the default Store View in name to EN, which is short for English. Save and add a new view. The newly created view options are as follows.

Store: main website store

Name: FR (here French is used as the second language)

Code: France

Status: Enabled

Sort order: 1 (this is the sorting order of the foreground language selection)

After saving the view, refresh the cache and you can see the drop-down box for language selection on the foreground. Then we can try to select FR at the front-end. You can see that the URL of the page already contains/fr. The approximate format is as follows.

Http://www.example.com/fr/xxx.html

If the URL contains such a style, your multi-store settings are successful. However, we can find that the language of the store has not changed. Why? Although magento supports multi-language stores by default, this function is separated from the magento language packs. Magento downloaded from the official website only contains one English language. When selecting the FR language, the system calls the default English Language Pack because the system does not contain a French Language Pack. Before realizing the multi-language store function of magento, We need to download the Language Pack for the new Language View. For this example, we will go to the official website to download the French Language Pack. The address is as follows.

Find the French Language Pack, download and decompress the package, and drop it to the magento root directory. Refresh the cache. Then, check whether the FR view has been translated into French?
