Figure 1

By clicking Start installation, you can install Oracle 10g, typically checking the system configuration for compliance, and then the Oracle DataBase 10g Installation dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 2:

Figure 2

You can choose between Basic installation and advanced installation when Oracle DataBase 10g is installed. When you select Basic installation, the Oracle home directory location is used to specify where Oracle DataBase 10g software resides, and the install type is used to specify the type of installation for Oracle Products (Enterprise, standard, and personal). If you choose Create Startup database, you specify the global database name and the password for the database user.

Select Advanced installation, click Next, and the Specify File dialog box appears in the source path, the disk path where the installation product is located, and the target name is used to identify the environment variable for the Oracle home directory, and the target path is used to specify the target installation path for installing the Oracle software. Set Target name: oradb10g_home1, the target path is: D:ORACLEPRODUCT10.1.0DB1. As shown in Figure 3:

Figure 3

Click Next to load the Oracle product list, and then the Select Installation Type dialog box appears; Figure 4:

Figure 4

When choosing an installation type, you typically select Enterprise Edition, and then click Next, the Select Database Configuration dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 5:

Figure 5

In the Select Database Configuration dialog box, you can choose whether you want to create a startup database, and if you want to create a database, choose the type of database you are building. After the Oracle 10g is installed, the database will be established.
The Database Configuration Assistant (db Configuration Assistant) is used to create databases, configure database options, delete databases, and manage templates. If a database is not established when Oracle 10g is installed, the database Configuration Assistant (DBCA) can be used to establish the database after the installation is complete.

There are two ways to build a database, the first of which is to run directly under the command line: DBCA; the second is click Start Menu: Start => program =>oracle=>oradb10g_home1=>configuration and Migration Tool=>database Configuration Assistant. As shown in Figure 1:

Figure 1

The following steps are followed by the Welcome dialog box, as shown in Figure 2:

Figure 2

Click Next to see the Action dialog box, which is used for the database operations you want to perform (create a database, configure database options, delete databases, and manage templates), as shown in Figure 3:

Figure 3

If you are creating a database for the first time, you can only create a database and administrative templates to use, choose to create the database, click Next, and the Database Template dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 4:

Figure 4

A database template is an XML file on a local hard disk that stores configuration information for a database.

Select transaction and click Next to display the Database Markup dialog box, which is used to set the global database name and routine name. As shown in Figure 5:

Figure 5

Global database name, in general format: Db_name.db_domain. Db_name is used for the corresponding database name, Db_domain corresponds to the network domain name. The SID (routine) should be exactly the same as the db_name. Figure 5 is set to: Demo.

Click Next and the Manage Options dialog box appears. Used to set OEM management information, as shown in Figure 6:

Figure 6

Select Use database control to manage databases, and click Next to set up the Database Identification dialog box, which sets the password for the initial database user account. As shown in Figure 7:

Figure 7

To select User sys, SYSTEM, DBSNMP, and Sysman to use the same password, select "All accounts use the same password". Here select "Use different password", set the password of the user separately: SYS user's password is oracle, system user's password is MANAGER,DBSNMP user's password is dbsnmp, sysman user's password is sysman.

After you set the password, click Next, and the Storage Options dialog box appears, which specifies the storage mechanism for the database (file system, automatic storage management, raw devices), as shown in Figure 8:

Figure 8

Select File System, click Next, and the Database File Location dialog box appears, which specifies where the database files are stored. As shown in Figure 9:

Figure 9

Select Use database file locations in templates, and click Next to see the Restore Configuration dialog box, which is used to specify recovery options for the database, as shown in Figure 10:

Figure 10

The quick recovery area is used to recover data from loss of data in the event of a system failure, and enabling archiving is used to set the database to Archivelog mode so that database data can be fully restored when a database failure occurs.

Click Next to see the Database Contents dialog box, which specifies whether to install the sample scenario and run a custom script. As shown in Figure 11:

Figure 15

Click OK to complete the database creation process. The database will begin to build, as shown in Figure 16:

Figure 16

When the database is established, the following dialog box appears, as shown in Figure 17:

Figure 17

When the completion database is established, all other users except Sys, system, DBSNMP, Sysman are locked. You should use the Scott user later, so after clicking the Password management button, unlock the Scott user, as shown in Figure 18:

Specify that the user password is tiger, click OK, and then click the Exit button to complete the entire process of establishing the database.
