People who have just been familiar with Oracle will feel helpless when they learn, how to learn, what tools are available, and what operations should they perform. So before learning to use Oracle, first install Oracle 10 Gb to master its basic tools. As the saying goes: to do good deeds, you must first sharpen your tools. Let's get started!

First, add the Oracle 10g installation CD to the optical drive. If it runs automatically, the installation interface 1 appears:

You can select "Basic installation" or "Advanced installation" when installing Oracle database at 10 Gb. When "Basic installation" is selected, "Oracle main directory location" is used to specify the storage location of the Oracle Database 10 Gb software; the "installation type" is used to specify the installation type (Enterprise, standard, and personal) of Oracle products ). If you select "create startup Database", you must specify the global database name and password of the database user.

Select "Advanced installation" and click "Next". The "specify file dialog box" is displayed, showing the disk path of the Installation Product in the source path; the target name is used to specify the environment variables corresponding to the Oracle Home directory, and the target path is used to specify the target installation path for installing the Oracle software. Set the target name to oradb10g_home1 and the target path to D: oracleproduct10.1.0db1. 3:

After installing the Oracle database for 10 Gb, you must create a database.
The Database Configuration assistant is used to create databases, configure Database options, delete databases, and manage templates. If you have not created a database when installing Oracle database for 10 Gb, you can use the database configuration Assistant (dbca) to create a database after installation.

There are two ways to create a database: the first is to run dbca directly under the command line; the second is to click the Start Menu: start => program => Oracle => oradb10g_home1 => Configuration and migration tool => Database Configuration assistant. 1:

Part 3 ora-12514 troubleshooting

Recently, I downloaded an Oracle 10 Gb installation package from the Oracle website. There is only one disk, and there is also a convenient option during installation, which is very convenient.
After the installation is complete, you may encounter problems when using it: If you only access sqlplus system/manager from the local machine, there is no problem.
However, if sqlplus system/manager @ orcl is used, an error with the ora-12514 is reported.

Solution:
1. Open the <oraclehome>/Network/admin/listener. ora file and find:

Sid_list_listener =
(Sid_list =
(Sid_desc =
(Sid_name = plsextproc)
(ORACLE_HOME = D: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ db_1)
(Program = EXTPROC)
)
)
2. Add:
(Sid_desc =
(Global_dbname = Oracle)
(ORACLE_HOME = D: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ db_1)
(Sid_name = Oracle)
)
3. Finally changed:
Sid_list_listener =
(Sid_list =
(Sid_desc =
(Sid_name = plsextproc)
(ORACLE_HOME = D: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ db_1)
(Program = EXTPROC)
)
(Sid_desc =
(Global_dbname = Oracle)
(ORACLE_HOME = D: \ oracle \ product \ 10.2.0 \ db_1)
(Sid_name = Oracle)
)
)
4. Save the file and restart tnslistener in the service. OK!

PS: Oracle10g has a benefit: it no longer conflicts with Tomcat ports. After the original Oracle9i installation is complete, port 8080 will be occupied. Generally, you need to change the Tomcat port. Now it's easy.
