Install Oracle 8i on P4 machines
It is best to install ORACLE 9I on a P4 computer. If it is inconvenient, you can install ORACLE 8I in the following ways (in fact, not all P4CPU cannot install ORACLE8I, one of my P4 1. 7. There is no problem when installing ORACLE 8.1.6)
I. System Environment and preparation
Hardware:
Intel P4 Processors
MB memory
The hard disk has three partitions: C, D, and E. The optical drive is F.
Software:
WINDOWS 2000 SERVER and WINDOWS 98
Database ORACLE 8.0.6 for NT or ORACLE 8.1.x for NT
Preparations:
Make sure that Oracle products are not installed on the machine. If yes, uninstall it before deleting all Oracle related items.
Install Oracle Enterprise Edition on WINDOWS 2000 SERVER
Install Oracle Client on WINDOWS 98
Ii. Fault
1. When Oracle8.0.6 is installed on WINDOWS 2000 SERVER
When you choose custom installation and create a database, the main applications have been installed. When the prompt "whether to create a database" is displayed, the selection will no longer respond. After the machine is restarted, click the application and the application will not respond, but it will be interrupted. Click the application, and the Mouse shows an hourglass, and then disappears.
2. After the Oracle8.0.6 Client is installed on WINDOWS 98, it is successfully installed. Click the application, and the system prompts that the application has executed an illegal operation and is about to be closed.
3. When you install oracle8ion WINDOWS 2000 Server, click the installation application setup.exe. The program is suspended, disappeared, or terminated without any response.
Iii. Cause Analysis
When you install Oracle8 or Oracle8i on a Windows NT, Windows 2000, NetWare, or Intel P4 processor computer, you will encounter the above problems. The main reason is that Oralce8/8i OUI (Oracle Universal Installer) 1.7.1.9.0 or earlier versions use Sun JRE and Symantec JIT (Just in Time Library ), JRE and JIT are not compatible with Intel P4 processors.
Iv. Solution
1. Solutions for Oracle 8.0.6
(1) copy the entire installation disk to the hard disk. For example, E: \ Oracle806.
(2) Find the symcjit. dll file under directory E: \ Oracle806 \ win32 \ JRE11 and change symcjit. dll to symcjit. old.
(3) Find the Jre11.map file in the directory E: \ Oracle806 \ win32 \ JRE11, open the Jre11.map file with a text editing tool, and find the segments starting with bin, you can see "symcjit. dll "" % JRE11 % \ bin \ "398336 false 00 00 00 00", delete the row, and save it. Note that the attributes of this file are read-only.
(4) execute the Installation File setup.exe from the directory E: \ oracle806.
If the fault occurs, Oracle8.0.6 has been installed, but clicking create Oracle application does not respond (usually in WINDOWS 2000 SERVER operating system) or clicking an application such as Net8, the system prompts that the program has performed an illegal operation and is about to be closed (usually in WINDOWS 98 ).. In this case, you can directly change the symcjit. dll file in the corresponding directory of the system installation directory to symcjit. old without uninstalling Oracle.
2. Oracle 8.1.x Solution
(1) create a temporary directory and copy the installation source program of Oracle8i to this directory. Find the symcjit. dll file in the stage \ Components \ Oracle. swd. jre \ 1.1.7.30 \ 1 \ DataFiles \ Expanded \ jre \ win32 \ bin directory and change it to symcjit. old. Note that there is a symcjit. dll file in the OEM directory to be renamed.
(2) Search for the oraparam. ini file, open it, and change the RE_MEMORY_OPTIONS =-mx48m parameter to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS =-nojit-ms16m-mx32m.
(3) Other parameters remain unchanged.
(4) execute the setup.exe file under the local hard drive install \ win32 \ setup.exedirectory. The modified parameter file oraparam. ini is called.
(5) Select the custom mode during installation and do not create a database.
(6) When the installer calls the network Configuration Assistant Net8 Configuration Assistant (NetCA), you need to forcibly terminate it and then exit the installation interface.
(7) after Oracle8i is installed, each of the following files in the installation directory must be modified accordingly.
Assistants \ dbca \ dbassist. cl
Assistants \ dbma \ dbmig. cl
Assistants \ ifa. cl
Bin \ elogin. cl
Bin \ owm. cl
Ldap \ oidamdin \ oidadmin. cl
Network \ tools \ netasst. cl
Network \ tools \ netca. cl
Owm \ install \ instelogin. cl
Owm \ install \ instowm. cl
Open the above files in sequence with the editing tool and add the parameter-nojit. Take the dbassist. cl file as an example:
Command = ("C: \ Program Files \ Oracle \ jre \ 1.1.7 \ BIN \ JREW"-nojit-classpath ....)
Modify the content of each. cl file in the same way.
(8) after successful installation, you can run DBCA and NetCA after installation.
Install Oracle 8i on P4 machines
1. Copy the ORACLE software to the hard disk.
2. Run \ stage \ Components \ Oracle. swd. jre \ 1.1.7.30/1 \ DataFiles \ Expanded \ jre \ win32 \ bin \ symcjit. the dll file is renamed symcjit. old
3. Run the setup.exe file under the \ install \ win32 Directory for installation.
Oracle 9i installation on 2000 Advanced Server Edition
Solution:
1. if Oracle of Oracle817 or other versions has never been installed on the machine, you can decompress all the files to be installed to a temporary directory, for example, decompress the temp \ install \ release file on the E disk, start installation.
2. If Oracle817 has been installed on the machine, you need to completely uninstall Oracle and install it as follows:
(1) Start-> Settings-> Control Panel-> management tools-> services
Stop all Oracle services.
(2) Start-> Program-> Oracle-OraHome81-> Oracle Installation Products-> Universal Installer
Uninstall all Oracle Products
(3) Run regedit, select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ ORACLE, and press del to Delete this entry.
(4) Run regedit and select HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services. Scroll through the list and delete all Oracle entries.
Revoke runs regedit, searches for all Oracle-related items, and deletes them.
⑹ Delete all groups and icons related to Oracle from the desktop, STARTUP group, and program menu.
⑺ Restart the computer to delete the directory of Oracle.
⑻ Delete Oracle-related Files, select the default Oracle directory C: \ Oracle and C: \ Program Files \ Oracle, and delete the entry directory and all subdirectories.
Unzip decompress all the files to be installed in Oracle to a temporary directory, for example, in the temp \ install \ disk1 directory of the E disk.
⑽ Open the disk1 \ install \ oraparam. ini file and make the following changes:
● Change the SOURCE item to SOURCE = e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/products. jar.
● Change the JRE_LOCATION item to JRE_LOCATION = e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/Components/Oracle. swd. jre/1.1.7.30/1/DataFiles/Expanded/jre
● Change the OUI_LOCATION item to OUI_LOCATION = e:/temp/install/disk1/stage/Components/Oracle. swd. oui/1.7.1.9.0/1/DataFiles/Expanded.
● Change the JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS item to JRE_MEMORY_OPTIONS =-nojit-ms16m-mx32m.
3. Run disk1 \ install \ win32 \ setup.exe to start the installation. Follow the prompts to select and install it. Assume that I have installed it in the D: \ orant \ ora81 directory.
4. After the installation is complete, some services will report errors and cannot be started. These services are:
Net8 Configuration Assistant
Database Configuration Assistant
Although the HTTP service is started, an error occurs in a series of java.exe files. You can click Start> Oracle (Database Name)> Oracle HTTP server> Stop HTTP Server to Stop the HTTP Server service. The installation is complete, but there are all problems.
5. after the installation is complete, you also need to do the following work, in the installation path all "*. add "-nojit" to the file suffixed with cl. A total of 10 files are listed as follows:
Assistants \ dbca \ dbassist. cl;
Assistants \ dbma \ dbmig. cl;
Assistants \ ifa. cl;
Bin \ elogin. cl;
Bin \ owm. cl;
Ldap \ oidamdin \ oidadmin. cl;
Network \ tools \ netasst. cl;
Network \ tools \ netca. cl;
Owm \ install \ instelogin. cl;
Owm \ install \ instowm. cl;
Example:
Command = ("C: \ Program Files \ Oracle \ jre \ 1.1.7 \ bin \ jrew"
-Classpath
"C: \ Program Files \ Oracle \ jre \ 1.1.7 \ lib \ rt. jar;
C: \ Program Files \ Oracle \ jre \ 1.1.7 \ lib \ i18n. jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ ewt-3_3_6.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ ewtcompat-opt-3_3_6.zip;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ share-1_0_8.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ swingall-1_1_1.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ help-3_1_8.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ jlib \ ice-4_06_6.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ network \ jlib \ sysmanmaf. jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ owm \ jlib \ owm-2_1.jar;
D: \ Oracle \ ora81 \ owm \ jlib \ help \ elogin \ help"
Oracle. security. admin. lio. lioa. LioaApp Oracle. security. admin. lio. lioa. LioaApp-nojit)
6. The three services in Step 4 cannot be started because the work has not been completed.
Download the jre software from the java.sun.com website. install the software version 1.2.2 or later on your machine. After the installation is complete, use the bin directory and lib directory to overwrite d: the bin directory and lib directory under \ orant \ ora81 \ apache \ jdk \ jre. The above three services can be successfully started.

Install 8I and 9I on the same PC
Problem:
During installation, the C: \ PROGRAMME \ ORACLE installer overwrites the first installed version file. I don't know how to avoid all possible conflicts.
Answer: Install the SDK in the home directory after 8. Also, if you install Oracle in an existing Oracle_home, when you fix or update Oracle or add other product options, you should be sure to stop any Oracle services running from a specific home directory.
