Set up WDS with two DD-WRT, and set up wds with dd-wrt

Today I bought two CISCO (Brush DD-WRT) routers for a long time to form a WDS, refer to the three articles

WDS, Repeater, and other modes in DD-WRT

It is a bit strange that the MAC address of the machine with the DD is the same... ^ _ ^. Just modify it.

I will not describe any other questions in the reference documents.

What is WDS? Two WDS Modes

After LinkSYS WRT54g is repaired, there will be two wireless broadband routers in the house. Therefore, I used two wireless routers to build WDS, which expanded the wireless coverage. Now, not only can high-speed wireless Internet access be available in every corner of the house, but also can share broadband connections with neighbors, truly achieving "wireless everywhere ". If you have two wireless broadband routers that support WDS and are interested in extending wireless signals, let's see how to expand the wireless territory at home!
The role of WDS is to connect a long-distance wired network and expand the scope of the wireless network. As it was previously used by enterprises and has little information, it has many difficulties in the establishment process. However, I found that as long as some basic concepts of WDS are clarified, many problems can be solved. 2. WDS wireless bridging explains that WDS has two different application modes: Bridge and Repeater. Where:
Bridge is used to connect two different local networks. The Wireless AP at both ends of the Bridge only communicates with the AP at the other end and does not accept connections from other wireless network devices. For example, if it is difficult for a company to connect two buildings to a LAN through a wired connection, it can be solved through a wireless bridge.
Repeater aims to expand the coverage of wireless networks by adding wireless aps to the edge of a wireless network. The biggest difference between the relay mode and the bridge mode is that the AP in the relay mode accepts connections from other wireless network devices in addition to signals from other APs.
Figure 2 shows the WDS setting interface for LinkSYS WRT54G (DD-WRT Firmware), available in "LAN" and "Point to Point" modes. As the name suggests, LAN is the Repeater mode. The WDS network can receive connections from other wireless devices, while the Point to Point is the Bridge mode, it is used to bridge multiple wired networks that are far away from each other and does not accept other wireless connections.
The WDS settings of the Buffalo WHR-G54S are either "Enable" or "WDS Dedicated Mode", which is literally confusing. Let's take a look at the settings help introduction. The "WDS Dedicated Mode" Mode will shield normal wireless connections. Obviously, this is the Bridge Mode, and "Enable" is the Repeater) mode (Figure 3 ).
Whether it is in that mode, to achieve the WDS mode, there are also the following necessary conditions that must be followed in Wireless Settings.
1. Both Wireless routers and APS must support the WDS function.
2. The SSID of the two wireless routers/APS must be the same
3. the wireless channels of two wireless routers/APS must be the same. The default value is usually "automatic". We recommend that you set it manually to ensure the same channel.
4. Both Wireless routers and APS enable the WDS function and register the Wireless MAC address of the AP to form WDS identity recognition. Note that the MAC Address is usually Wired/Wireless, that is, "Lan MAC Address" and "Wireless MAC Address" are different. In the WDS function, you need to register the "Wireless MAC Address" of the AP of the other party. Do not confuse it.
5. The security settings of the two APS must be the same. The key is that the security mechanism and password must be the same. For two wireless routers of different brands, we recommend that you debug WDS in non-encrypted mode, and then set encryption as needed to avoid the problem that WDS cannot be set due to incompatibility of encryption. Specifically, we can follow the steps below to complete WDS settings step by step.
1. Set the IP addresses of the two wireless routers to 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.2 respectively.
2. Set the starting address of the DHCP service to 192.168.1.3 to avoid IP conflicts with the two wireless routers.
3. Set the wireless SSID. The two routers set the same SSID.
4. Set the wireless Channel and set both routers to Channel 5.
5. In the left-side Navigation Pane, go to the left-side navigation pane.

DD-wrt relay, how to set the wds here, how to fill in the ip address, and select point-to-point or LAN (LAN) in the front)

This is not required.
First, reply your router to the factory settings, and then log on to DDWRT. There is a "wireless" under the "status", pull to the bottom of the page, there is a "base station survey ", then a page is displayed, showing the nearby wireless hotspots found by your router. "Yes" is displayed in the "open" column, indicating that it can be added; "No" is displayed, indicating that the password cannot be added (you need to manually set it to add it, ). Select a "yes", click the "add" button next to it, and then confirm or save something. The SSID of your DDWRT router will be the same as the SSID you want to relay. In this case, you do not need to worry about the above in the "Basic settings" under "wireless" of your vro. Add a new SSID in the "Virtual Interface" and name it for yourself. Then, in the "wireless" "Security Settings", do not move the above half, the "Virtual Interface" below is the security settings of the SSID in the "Virtual Interface" you just added. You have to set it here. Restart DDWRT to see if the IP address is obtained in the upper-right corner of the homepage. If it is normal, the relay is successful.
The following describes the relay that shows "no. The difference between it and the method mentioned above is that the security settings of both local and remote wireless routers must be the same, the encryption method and password must be the same, and the SSID should be the same, you can set these settings manually. The "Virtual Interface" is set in the same way as the one with no password above. If there is no accident, this will do. If it doesn't work, you can select "Lan" in your region. Both routers are set up in the same way and add the wireless MAC addresses of each other to each other. (Note that the wireless router has three MAC addresses, don't confuse it. Make sure that the MAC is wireless)
As mentioned above, the second method may be troublesome and may fail in many cases. If it doesn't work, cancel the password of the remote wireless router first. After the relay is set up successfully, modify the Security Settings on both sides, or set MAC filtering on both sides.
