In general, in HTML, a special character has two representations, one called a digital reference, and one called an entity reference.

The so-called digital reference, is to use numbers to represent the special characters in the document, usually by the prefix "&#", plus the value, plus the suffix ";" and composition, it can take the following two ways. & #D; where d is a decimal value

Here are some examples of numeric references for special characters:

The so-called entity reference, in fact, is to use meaningful names to represent special characters, usually by the prefix "&", plus the corresponding name of the character, plus the suffix ";" And it is expressed in the following ways:

&name; Where name is a name to represent the character, it is case-sensitive. For example, you can use "©" to represent the copyright symbol "©", with "®" to represent the registered trademark symbol "®", it is obvious that this is much easier to remember than the number.

Unfortunately, not all browsers are able to correctly recognize special characters that use the entity reference method, but they can recognize special characters that use digital references and, if possible, use a digital reference for some particularly uncommon characters.

Of course, for those common special characters, the use of their entity reference is safe, we in practical applications, as long as the memory of these common special characters of the entity reference is enough to use.
