Sybase Database Server Installation

Since I have been using SQL Server databases before and have been familiar with the SQL environment, recently I suddenly got into contact with Sybase databases, so I am not familiar with them. I personally feel that SQL is much easier to use than Sybase. Maybe I am used to SQL, but one thing is certain. The visual effect of SQL is better than that of Sybase at half past one. However, SQL is better than Sybase (this is suitable for users or small enterprises and large enterprises, but Sybase may be suitable for large enterprises, after all, SQL is developed on the basis of Sybase. You can say that you are standing on the shoulders of giants. Okay. Let's talk about the installation of Sybase.

 

The installation of the Sybase Database is divided into the server side and the client side. This article first introduces the installation of the server side.

1. In the same way as other programs, double-click setup.exe.

 

2. The welcome page appears. click Next.

 

3. Next, select the agreement of the corresponding country. We are Chinese, and of course select "People's Republic of China". Then, select the single button "I agree" and "Next.

 

4. Select the main directory of the sybase database. I chose the E disk because the disk is in NTFS format and the database files are large (single file). If a single file exceeds 4 GB, an error occurs when the disk is in the FAT32 format. You can change the directory name based on the disk space allocation, but it is recommended that you do not change the directory name Sybase to facilitate future maintenance. If you change the directory name, do not use Chinese characters. Please use the English letter name.

 

5. Click [next]. If the path name does not exist, the system will prompt creation. Select [Yes.

6. Select custom installation.

 

7. Select all the files to be installed on the server.

 

8. Next, click Next.

 

9. Next you will see the installation progress bar. This process is a long one and you will be patient ......

 

10. Select all the check boxes.

 

11. Select the [custom configuration of New Adaptive Server] Option and custom configuration of new backup server options, set the Adaptive Server and backup server Services manually, and click [next] Next, screen display window

 

12. Configure the Adaptive Server as follows. The backup server port is 5001.

15. Stop and restart the computer.

 

16. Don't be happy too early. It's not over yet. Just calm down. Continue to set the character set for the database, go to the E: \ Sybase \ ASE-12_5 \ install directory, run _ computer name. bat, start the Sybase service, the doc window is better not to close.

17. Open dos and go to the cp936 directory under the Sybase installation directory. If the directory is not displayed, enter E: Press enter.

 

18. Run: charset-USA-p-sxx binary. srt cp936 (XX indicates the server name. This parameter is not required on the local machine)

 

 

19. log on to the server using iSQL-USA-p-sxx in the DOS environment without specifying-s.

 

Enter sp_configure "Default Character Set ID" and press enter after 171.

 

Enter go and press Enter.

 

20. Enter shutdown and go, and press Enter.

 

21. Restart the service twice (E: \ Sybase \ ASE-12_5 \ install \ Run _ computer name. BAT) because it automatically exits for the first time, so it needs to start twice

22. Set the client character set to enter the "E: \ Sybase \ locales" directory, with a locales. BAT file, open it in notepad, find the section prefixed with [nt], and change "iso_1" in the last line, that is, "locale = default, us_english, iso_1", to "cp936"

 

23. To ensure that the Sybase service is automatic every time the server is started, go to the control panel -- Administrative Tools -- services
