Telnet is a common remote logon method. We have two operation modes when setting this field. The Telnet client service has two operation modes: Telnet command mode and Telnet session mode. after connecting to the Telnet server, the Telnet client automatically enters the Telnet session mode. this mode is the most common. in session mode, all the keys are sent to the Telnet server over the network, and can be processed by any program running there on the Telnet server.
Telnet command mode allows you to locally send commands to the Telnet client service itself, for example, enable the connection to the remote host, close the connection to the remote host, display operation parameters, set terminal options, print status information, and exit the program.
The Escape Character of the Telnet client is the combination key used to switch from the session mode to the command mode. this is different from the Esc key on the keyboard, but a user-defined key combination. by default, the escape key combination for the Telnet client is Ctrl +]. to change the key combination, see change the Escape Character of the Telnet client.
