Ubuntu dual-system is installed in Win7, and USB flash drives are not required.
This article tests the installation of a 32-bit ubuntu-14.10-desktop-i386.iso system. Preparation: Ubuntu System ISO file. The official website or school image source can be downloaded. UltraISO software. Search by Google and use the trial version. It is mainly used to extract files from ISO files. (Software that can open ISO files is not required .) EasyBCD software. Google.
Step 1. Right-click the computer, manage the disk, and compress the volume to obtain the partition to be allocated to the Ubuntu system. Or you have a disk for Ubuntu. Delete the volume.
Step 2. Open EasyBCD, add new entries, and install NeoGrub. Click Configure. Enter the following content at the end of menu. lst: title Install Ubuntu
Root (hd0, 0)
Kernel (hd0, 0)/vmlinuz boot = casper iso-scan/filename =/ubuntu-14.10-desktop-i386.iso ro quiet splash locale = zh_CN.UTF-8
Initrd (hd0, 0)/initrd. lz
The red color indicates the name of the System ISO file to be installed. Green: the first drive letter of some computers is not a drive letter of drive C. Check whether drive C is hd (0, 0). You can view it in disk management of win7. Do not check the list above. Check the places shown in the square below, from left to right, start from 0 and count to disk C.
Step 3. Open the ISO file, copy initrd. lz and vmlinuz under the casper file to the C root directory, and copy the. disk folder to the C root directory.
Step 4. Restart. Select NeoGrub. Note: If the entered content in Step 2 is incorrect, for example, if there are a few more spaces, the following error may occur in the black box. After directly copying the above content, there should be no mistakes in editing.
Step 5. Press Ctrl + Alt + T to open the terminal and enter the code sudo umout-l/isodevice to unmount the drive where the disc is located. The-l in the middle is lower-case L. It can be executed several times, and a message may be displayed later, indicating that it is not mounted.
Step 6. You can install it by default. In the installation type, select another type to create and adjust the partition. It may become unavailable after several partitions are created for the idle disk. According to my test, the primary partition should be placed in the last partition.
Step 7. find the block with the word "idle". What we need to do is to partition ubuntu in this free space. I am used to dividing it like this: the boot partition "/boot" m is enough, and the system partition "/" is enough to install 20 GB of system and software. The swap partition "swap" is similar to the windows virtual memory, generally, it is not larger than the physical memory. I divide it into 1024 MB. The Personal File partition "/home" is as big as you want, similar to windows's "My documents ".
Step 8. click "idle" partition and select "+" below. In the pop-up window, enter the partition space size and select the type, except that "/" is the primary partition, all others are logical partitions. Enter the partition to be mounted, and then confirm ." /"Partition,"/home "partitions are created in this way, and the swap partition must be" used "to" select "swap partition"

The partition consists of four steps:

1) Type of the new partition: Select "primary partition ",
New partition capacity: Enter the allocated size, in MB
Position of the new partition: Select "start" by default"
Used to: select the file system used by the new partition, and use the default "Ext4 Log File System"
Mount point: Select "/". Size: 10 ~ 15 GB (may vary by individual)
2) create a swap space
Select free space and click "add.
Type of the new partition: Select "logical partition"
New partition capacity: Enter the swap space allocation size, in MB
Position of the new partition: Select "start" by default"
Used to: Select "swap space"
You do not need to select a mount point for the swap space, so the mount point is gray and not optional.
I suggest swap partition 1024 M
3) create a "/home" partition
Continue to select free space and click "add.
Type of the new partition: Logical Partition
New partition capacity: remaining space
Location of the new partition: Start
Used to: Select "Ext4 Log File System"
Mount point:/home.
Click "OK.
The author partitions 12 GB in this partition (this mainly stores personal documents)
4) create a "/boot" partition
Continue to select free space and click "add.
Type of the new partition: Logical Partition
New partition capacity: 200 M new partition location: Start
Used to: Select "Ext4 Log File System"
Mount point:/boot.
Click "OK.

Because we have installed Windows 7 and dual systems, we need to create/boot partitions,
Otherwise, this item can be omitted.

Note:/partition is the file system partition of the linux system, similar to the windows system disk, such as the c disk; swap is the swap partition, usually twice the memory;/boot is enough for the boot partition MB; /home is the personal document Partition

(Note: when using a USB flash drive to install ubuntu partitions, all disks must be set to logical partitions, including the root directory/partition. Otherwise, the partitions cannot continue, this is my own lesson. Remember. In fact, the reason is true: After Ubuntu is installed in windows, the primary partition has been occupied by the windows System (up to four primary partitions). For example, if there is more than one primary partition in the window system, when you create an Ubuntu system, you cannot set all the partitions to four (/, swap,/home,/boot) Primary partitions. Therefore, you cannot continue partitioning when you are configuring the primary partition, we recommend that you set them to logical partitions .)

Step 9. Set the partition. The next Step is critical !!!

First, let's look at the ID of the "/boot" partition you created above, for example, my ID is sda6 (You may not be sda6, sda5, or sda7, depends on your/boot Partition Number), select "sda6" in the "device in the boot guide installation" drop-down box below. If this step is ignored, you use ubuntu to guide windows.

Step 10. Click "Install". You will be able to install it later or by default or by yourself .. The system starts installation...
Step 11. If you select the win7 ubuntu Boot Mode, after the installation is complete, start the computer and check that there is no ubuntu boot menu in the boot guide menu. No matter, go directly to win7.
Step 12. Run EasyBCD, "add new entry"-> "Linux/BCD ". Select Grub2 as the type, the name can be customized, And the partition where the drive is/boot. Click "Add entry.
Step 13. Restart your computer to find the newly added ubuntu boot guide. (End) Appendix:

17. If Windows 7 is started on ubuntu, ubuntu is started by default. In this case, you can write down the position of the win7 boot Guide (from top to bottom, start with 0 ).

18. Go to the ubuntu system and edit the/etc/default/grub file to enable Windows 7 by default. Open the terminal (Ctrl + Alt + T) and enter sudo vim/etc/default/grub. Find the following location:

GRUB_DEFAULT = 0

# GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT = 0

GRUB_HIDDEN_TIMEOUT_QUIET = true

GRUB_TIMEOUT = 10

GRUB_DISTRIBUTOR = 'lsb _ release-I-s 2>/dev/null | echo Debian'

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT = "quietsplash"

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX = ""

Note: GRUB_DEFAULT indicates the default start. Now we can set the value to the value we noted down previously.

GRUB_TIMEOUT is the waiting time (unit: seconds) for the boot guide menu. You can modify it by yourself.

Run the following command after saving:

Sudo update-grub

19. After restart, Windows 7 is started by default.
