Ubuntu Installation notes (2)

After the messy installation after the last installation, I plan to configure my Ubuntu in different categories.

It is very comprehensive. I basically follow this to install the configuration.

Class 1 Media Solution
1. Use totem to open the rmvb file and download the two plug-ins gstreamer0.10-plugins-uugly and gstreamer0.10-FFMPEG. Check whether xine is better than gstreamer. Run the following command to install mplayer and xine plug-in for totem according to Ubuntu 7.04 newbie guide. The system prompts that gstreamer is uninstalled.
# Sudo apt-Get install mplayer mozilla-mplayer totem-xine libxine-extracodecs
However, I still cannot play back my rmvb files.

Common tools for Class 2
1. zhcon
Zhcon is used to provide support for Chinese display in the console. The virtual console in X-Windows supports Chinese characters, but the pure Console does not work. zhcon is required.
Installation:
Sudo apt-Get install zhcon
Usage:
Enter # zhcon -- utf8 to start.
Note: It is mentioned that using it in the virtual console may cause a crash. I specially CTRL + ALT + F1 to switch to the previous trial, or -_-!
Later, I checked it. I used # zhcon -- utf8 -- DRV = VGA and it would be OK. Or I added framebuffer support to the boot option. The first method I used.

2. chm reading Tool
Install Firefox plug-in chmreader (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3235)

3. Dictionary
> Run # apt-Get install stardict to download the main program
> Go To The stardict official website and choose to download the dictionary.
> Execution
# Ar-xjvf a.tar.bz2
# Mv A/usr/share/stardict/DIC
> Note that the stardict-treedict-infoBrowse-zh_CN-2.4.2 should be placed in/usr/share/stardict/treedict instead of treedic, Please rename the directory on your own.

4. Decompression/compression tools
Installation:
# Sudo apt-Get install RAR unrar
Create soft link
Sudo ln-fs/usr/bin/RAR/usr/bin/unrar
In this way, you only need to enter unrar in the command line to decompress Or compress the file. After the installation is complete, the archive Manager also integrates the RAR component.

5. PDF Chinese support package
Installation:
# Sudo apt-Get install xpdf-Chinese-Simplified xpdf-Chinese-traditional

Class 3 System Configuration
1. OS is started by default.
Modify the default and timeout values in/boot/GRUB/menu. lst.

2. Added framebuffer support.
Modify the kernel in/boot/GRUB/menu. lst and add VGA = 792 at the end of the line.

3. Configure the font to make Chinese look more beautiful
# Sudo fontconfig-voodoo-F-s zh_cn
As a matter of fact, I have found any changes, maybe they are only valid for Ubuntu English version.

4. Install the sysv-RC-conf tool to increase the boot speed. For more information, see "Accelerating Ubuntu boot process".
# Sudo apt-Get install sysv-RC-Conf
My changes:
> Anacron off timed start service
> Apmd off power management service similar to ACPI
> ATD off is similar to anacron.
> Bluetooth off service by name
> DNS-clean off is used to clear DNS information during dial-up connections.

Class 4 Network Tools
1. Firefox
> Install the plug-in "PDF download". The Selection box is displayed when the link is PDF;
> FF is automatically disabled after installation. Pay attention to it next time.
> Install the plug-in mediawrap,

Todo
1. Install the wenquanyi font
The system prompts that the wqy-bitmapfont package cannot be found, probably because the source of-CN is not added to sources. List. However, an error is prompted during # apt-Get update.

2. Install adobereader
Considering that it is large and slow, we will not install it for the moment. Use evince first. If xpdf cannot be used again.

> Download from Adobe Official Website
> Http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/7x/7.0.8/chs/AdobeReader_chs-7.0.8-1.i386.tar.gz
> Extract
> Sudo tar-xvfz AdobeReader_chs-7.0.8-i386.tar.gz
> Go to the directory and install
> Cd adobereader
> Sudo./install
> Modify
> Sudo gedit/usr/bin/volume read
> Add export gtk_im_module = xim to the first line.
