Windows 2000 Server IIS opens the parent path

"Open Parent Path" is the concept started in Windows 2003, before Windows XP, Windows 2000 brought IIS is not "Windows 2003" this argument. The default setting for Windows 2003 IIS6.0 after installation is not to open the parent path.

The primary role of "turn on Parent path":

"Enable parent path", if the include file= is used in the ASP page. /header.asp such code, this item must be selected "Enable Parent path", ... /indicates that the Header.asp page in the parent directory is represented by a relative path, and if the Enable parent path in your IIS page setup is not turned on, the page will be accessed with an error because the current IIS settings are not allowed. If set to true, this property can pose a potential security risk because the include path can access important or confidential files outside the root directory of the application. If you do not open the parent path for security reasons, the suggested path points to the absolute path, which is the full address.

If IIS does not turn on "Enable parent path", there are often "HTTP 500-Internal server errors", such as running a normal web site program under Windows 2000 servers, and the "HTTP 500-Internal server error "

How to enable the "Turn on Parent path" feature

In IIS Manager, expand the local computer, right-click the start location directory for the application you want to configure, and then click Properties. Click the Contents tab, and then click Configure. Click the Options tab. In the Application configuration section, select the Enable parent path check box. Click OK.
