All tests in this article pass the test on Windows 7.

In Windows cmd, enter the following command:

C: \ Users \ dubo> Cd ..
C: \ Users> Cd ..
C: \> DIR/
Shows:

Let's start with the first file:

$ Recycle. Bin (directory)

The $ recycle. BIN file is a system folder, that is, the so-called "recycle bin", and cannot be deleted. You only need to check "Hide protected operating system files" in the folder option-view, and you will not be able to see it. If you find $ Recycle under a disk. the memory usage of the binfile is very large (this indicates that there are too many items to be recycled from the file, so make sure there are no important programs or files you need) and you really want to delete them, right-click the recycle bin on the desktop-properties-select "Do not move the file into the recycle bin When deleting, but delete it completely", and then you can access any disk to change $ recycle. bin: this folder is deleted (because it is automatically restored after the deleted recycle bin file is deleted, and the recovered disk $ recycle. binfile memory will be returned to the original minimum kb by default, reducing the disk memory usage ).

. Trash-1000 (directory)

Note: Because I have installed Windows 7 and Ubuntu, files in windows can be accessed in Ubuntu. Therefore, files will be created on the corresponding disk. If Ubuntu is not installed, this folder does not exist.

The trash indicates that "junk" 1000 is the UID of your Ubuntu user.

This file is used to store files in the recycle bin. Similar to the $ recycl. Bin folder that Windows creates in each partition, it is created by gnome in Ubuntu. If you delete it, it will be created the next time you log on to Ubuntu. If you look at it uncomfortable, just hide it, but if the garbage in Linux is not completely deleted, this folder will occupy a lot of space, in addition, you may encounter permission problems in windows and cannot delete them. Therefore, it is best to clear the recycle bin in Linux.

Autoexec. BAT (file)

Autoexec. bat is an automatic batch processing file, normally under the C root directory, useful in the DOS and Win95/98 times, DOS will automatically run autoexec at startup. BAT files are usually loaded with the required programs, such as path, smartdrv, mouse, and mscdex) doskey, set, and so on. In winme, this file cannot be modified and can only be 0 bytes. Windows
2000, XP, Vista, and 7/8 are reserved for compatibility purposes and can be deleted.

The memory environment settings in the command prompt (cmd.exe) are defined by autoexec. nt and config. nt, and have nothing to do with autoexec. BAT and config. sys.

You can use the type autoexec. Bat command to view the content:

Rem dummy file for NTVDM

Rem is a comment in the BAT file. Therefore, this file is useless.

Boot (directory)

When Windows 7 is started, it will read the language file in the boot folder of drive C in the primary partition. If you only want to retain the startup prompt in simplified Chinese, keep the following files:

C: \ Boot \ BCD

C: \ Boot \ memtest.exe

C: \ Boot \ fonts \ chs_boot.ttf

C: \ Boot \ fonts \ wgl4_boot.ttf

C: \ Boot \ ZH-CN \ bootmgr.exe. Mui

C: \ Boot \ ZH-CN \ memtest.exe. Mui

Boot. ini (file)

Windows XP mainly depends on the boot. ini file to determine the available OS categories displayed during the computer restart (BOOT) process. Boot. INI is set to implicit and system file attributes by default, and is identified as read-only files. After multiple systems (such as Windows 98 and Windows XP) are installed on the computer, a system boot menu is displayed every time you start the computer. Select the system you want to enter and press Enter. The Bootstrap program is named Boot. INI: The program is automatically installed when Windows (XP) is installed. You can use it to easily boot multiple systems on your computer. You can also use this boot file to set a personalized boot menu, windows 7 can be deleted.

Note: It is very troublesome to add a boot menu under win7. To use bcdedit In the CMD command line, enter a large string of {guid} during the operation }. Easybcd has many limitations, so you cannot add your own boot files. Previously, I thought that in win7, I could only add a startup Item by adding a project to BCD. However, I found that Windows 7 can also use boot. ini under XP to add a startup project.

Create a boot. ini file in the root directory of drive C and add the following content to it:

C: \ grldr. MBR = "grub4dos"

In this way, you can add the boot file c: \ grldr. MBR to the boot menu with the name grub4dos displayed.

Different from XP, the name of the startup Item in Boot. ini of win7 must be enclosed in quotation marks. In XP, it can be written as follows:

C: \ grldr. MBR = grub4dos

In win7, it must be written as follows:

C: \ grldr. MBR = "grub4dos"

Boot. ini. Saved

Is the backup file of boot. ini. The content is the same. Windows 7 can be deleted

Bootfont. Bin

Bootfont. Bin is used to define a menu in Chinese. After deletion, the menu is changed to English. Windows 7 can be deleted without being changed to English.

Bootmgr (file)

Start the manager. Bootmgr is short for Boot manager. It is a new start manager used in Windows Vista and Windows 7 to replace the START Manager-ntldr in Windows XP. In Microsoft's Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, and Windows 7 operating systems, the startup process is slightly different from the previous Windows version with NT as the kernel. Bootmgr is equivalent to Win NT/Win2000/win
Ntldr In the XP age.

Bootsect. Bak

Bootsect. Bak is a backup of the system boot file. It is generated after the system is installed and automatically backed up. It doesn't matter if you delete the boot file, as long as your boot file is in good condition, but it is recommended that you do not delete it. (Delete may cause startup failure ). You can hide it if it looks uncomfortable. Windows 7 can be deleted

Config. sys

Config. sys is an important file in the dossystem. Its Configuration directly affects the usage and efficiency of the system. If improperly configured, many programs may fail to run normally. Windows 7 can be deleted

G7ldr

Files generated by the activation software of Windows 7 are deleted and the system becomes inactive. It cannot be deleted under win7.

Ghldr and grldr

Ghldr and grldr are the system files required for ghost restoration. Generally, they do not affect the system. It is recommended that you do not delete them. Can be deleted under win7.

Hiberfil. sys

Files in the hard disk space occupied by the system's sleep function (Windows's default sleep function is on). When the computer is in sleep state, all the content in the memory will be saved to the hard disk, and the computer will be shut down. After the computer is turned on, all the programs and documents opened when the computer is turned off will be restored to the desktop. That is to say, when you sleep your computer, Windows writes all the memory content to the hiberfil. SYS file before shutting down the system. Then, when you re-open the computer, the operating system uses hiberfil. sys to put all the information back into the memory, and the computer is restored to the status before it is disabled. However, Windows
The hiberfil. SYS file is left on the hard disk, even if the file is no longer needed. The hiberfil. SYS file is of the same size as the memory, and is a special system file that cannot be organized by the disk fragment program. Therefore, the existence of hiberfil. sys will prevent the disk fragment program from being thoroughly organized.

Io. sys

Io. sys is an important Startup File in Win9x mode. It mainly controls the important conversion from the machine to the operator during startup and is the pivot of Win9x system startup. Together with msdos. sys command. com, the startup core of Win9x is usually system, read-only, and hidden. Is the core file of Windows dos real-mode. Win7 deletable

Ntdetect. com

Ntdetect.com is the system boot file and executable file on your computer.

Ntdetect.com collects the following types of hardware information:

& System firmware information, such as time and date

& Type of bus adapter

& Graphics adapter type

& Keyboard

& Communication Port

& Disk

& Floppy disk

& Enter a device, such as a mouse

& Parallel Port

& ISA device installed in the ISA slot

After detecting the information, Windows XP will display the famous Windows XP trademark on the screen, and display a scroll to tell the user the Windows Startup Process. Windows 7 can be deleted

Ntldr

Ntldr stands for NT loader, which is a system loader.

The ntldr file is a boot file for Windows NT/2000/XP/2003. When this file is lost, the system prompts "ntldr is missing... "and required to press any key to restart. The system cannot be correctly entered. Therefore, back up data when the system is normal.

Ntldr is generally stored in the C root directory and is a system file with hidden and read-only attributes. It is mainly responsible for parsing the boot. ini file. Windows 7 can be deleted

Pagefile. sys

Pagefile. sys is the virtual memory page file created during installation. The file size is the minimum size set by the virtual memory of your system.

If the computer runs in a lower Ram and requires more RAM immediately, Windows uses hard disk space to simulate system Ram. This is called virtual memory, usually called page files. The pagefile. SYS file is generated because of the virtual memory settings. Virtual Memory settings are good for the performance of your computer to a certain extent. Therefore, we recommend that you retain the virtual memory. It can even expand the capacity of the virtual memory. However, this article will usually occupy a large storage location. Users with insufficient hard disk resources can consider disabling, moving, and narrowing down the size.

After cleaning, the system file is displayed as follows:
