Windows 7 in the eyes of an XP user

Source: Internet

Tags sleep function

I originally wanted to name this article "Windows 7 Trial Report", but I don't think I have much qualifications to name it like this, because I use XP most of the time, vista has never been used in depth. Only the UAC of Vista is annoying.

According to statistics, XP accounts for the majority of browsing users, so if you plan to upgrade from XP to win7 directly in the future, you can check my usage experience.

(Note: by default, the taskbar is at the bottom, and there is no base dock simulation)

I. Installation and initial experience

Yesterday, I spent three hours downloading a 32-bit Windows 7 image. I tried to squeeze out 30 GB of space in the hard disk (in fact I didn't need that much) and then installed it on a dial.

My computer configuration is amd 3600 +, 2g, 250g SATA, 7600gt 256 m. The installation process took about 40 minutes. Windows 7 had all the hardware drivers on my computer, so you can use them after installation.

This is a Windows 7 hardware score:

According to my personal experience, the boot speed is equivalent to that of XP, And the boot screen is dazzling.

After the initial installation, Windows 7 is in English. You may need to download a Chinese package. After the installation, the C drive consumes about 10 Gb of space, which is not much, and half of the 20 GB shared on the Internet.

In terms of initial experience, like Windows 7 and Vista, the UI is very dazzling, and there is no obvious delay when the effects are fully enabled on my old man's machine.

Ii. basic configuration

The basic configuration means the software or settings that come with Windows 7.

1. IE8

In Windows 7, the browser is IE8. If you are still using IE6, you may feel unwell when you encounter IE8. IE8 has many advantages. It draws on many excellent features from other browsers, such as smart address bar and stealth mode. I will not go into details here. There are many introductions on Internet about IE8.

After using IE8 twice, I installed Firefox 3 enhanced version. I prefer Firefox compared to IE.

2. Windows Media Player 12

There is nothing to say. Windows will certainly bring its own media playback tool. Windows Media Center is also included in the program.

3. built-in tools

I like this tool. Although relatively simple, it can meet general needs.

4. Firewall Rules

Windows 7 comes with a powerful firewall, and its rule customization is also relatively powerful.

I'm not sure if this setting exists in Vista. At least I didn't find it in XP.So intuitiveSet firewall rules. Because firewalls do not need to be updated frequently like anti-virus software, I think Windows Firewall is enough.

5. built-in backup program

Windows 7 comes with a backup program that backs up a partition to another partition.

6. More powerful drawing tools

Like, I'm not sure if the drawing tool in Vista is more powerful, but I can be sure that the drawing tool in win7 is better.

At least, in XP, the drawing tool can only be undone once, and in win7, it can be undone multiple times.

7. Partition Encryption

In Windows 7, you can encrypt a partition to protect your private data.

8. Supports automatic wallpaper replacement

In win7, You can uninstall the wallpaper auto-changing software because the system comes with this function.

9. More powerful Calculator

The calculator of Windows 7 has become very powerful. In addition to providing the basic mode and scientific computing mode, it also has a programmer mode. In addition, statistical calculation and date calculation can be performed.

Iii. software compatibility

Most software running in XP can run under Windows 7, and a few software may have compatibility issues. Of course, this is a beta version of the operating system, you can not ask too much.

Firefox, Gtalk, QQ, notepad ++, 7z, sogou input method, QQ audio and video, clipx and so on are not too big problems in win7.

However, daemon tools cannot be installed. Therefore, I use winmount to use a virtual ISO image.

I guess some online games cannot run, because I almost don't play online games, so I can't test it. If you know it, share it with me.

For green software, most of the software can still run. Single-host games I installed on XP can run without installation in win7.

According to a BBS post, running 360 security guard may cause a crash. Please use it with caution! If you are familiar with using your computer, consider not installing any protection software. streaking is not terrible.

More compatibility problems may occur in 64-bit systems. We recommend that you use a 32-bit system.

For security reasons, we recommend that you do not use system optimization tools after installing win7.

4. More user-friendly places
1. The "display desktop" button is arranged on the rightmost side of the taskbar.

For a long time, in addition to using winkey + D to display the desktop, you can only click the "show desktop" icon. In XP, this icon is arranged in the Quick Start bar by default, which increases the operation time.

In win7, the button is arranged on the rightmost side of the taskbar to achieve blind operation..

I think it is more efficient to integrate the recycle bin on the right of the taskbar like ubuntu.

2. the taskbar does not display the window title.

Personally, I prefer this window display method. In most cases, we can see what the program is when we look at the icon, instead of the text title. If we add a text title, it will only make the taskbar more crowded.

Of course, this is also a bad thing. For example, if you open multiple browser windows and want to quickly locate a window, because there is no title prompt, this will reduce the operation efficiency.

3. display progress on the taskbar

I like this very much. When a progress bar appears in a window, its taskbar icon also displays a progress prompt:

4. Better hide the taskbar icon

The hidden task icons are integrated into a small frame:

It is not "pulled" like XP.

5. user control settings provide level options

This is something I hate Vista and want to ask about everything. Microsoft apparently realized that this was a very annoying step, so it provided options to choose not to prompt any notifications:

6. Automatic window maximization and Automatic Restoration

When you drag the title bar of the window to the top of the desktop, the window is automatically maximized. Otherwise, the window is automatically restored..

This is more convenient than double-clicking the title bar.

7. automatically display the window side by side

When you drag the window to the left and right sides of the desktop, the window will automatically become a vertical window, drag the two windows to the left and right sides respectively, the following effect will be achieved:

Otherwise, the window is automatically restored.

8. Independent volume control

Vista seems to have been able to control the volume of individual programs, which is obviously more powerful than the volume control that comes with XP. The volume of each program is no longer unified.

9. Powerful Resource Manager search bar

The Resource Manager search bar in win7 provides the same functions as the ultraexplorer file name filtering described in "improve Windows efficiency software", that is,When you enter a letter starting with a file name, all files starting with this letter will be filtered out. Subsequent letters, and so on.

10. Text Preview

In XP, resource manager provides a simple preview of images and videos. In Windows 7, the text is also included in the quick preview:

V. Summary

This article is not an evaluation of Windows 7, because it does not involve specific values. Secondly, because I have not used Vista in depth, I am not qualified to judge that Windows 7 is better than Vista, even if Vista is recognized as unpopular.

After the failure of Vista, Microsoft clearly found a better direction. Windows 7 draws on the advantages of XP and other operating systems and removes some of the cumbersome steps of Vista.

From the perspective of a long-term XP user, I think this is a system worth trying. In some details, Windows 7 is very user-friendly. When I operate on a friend's Vista, I feel more uncomfortable than Windows 7, so I think XP users can better transition to Windows 7.

If your computer can free up about 20 GB of memory, 1 GB or more, and the CPU is not too old, you can try Windows 7. The current test version is the flagship version, which can be used for free until January 1, August.

This article is completed in Windows 7 beta.

      Good article
Text preview is a bit like the Mac preview.

In addition, I know how fast the system is.
With Vista, I always feel that the response is faster than XP.

      I use Vista,
The most annoying thing about Vista is its speed, which is severely slowed down by over-gorgeous interfaces.
There is also the early promotion of Vista, which is too high, so that people have too high expectations for it. Once it is used up, many things are actually flashy, and there is a feeling of being cheated.

I think Windows 7 should attract XP users. After all, XP users are very old, and Vista users may not be very attractive, unless those who are very dissatisfied with Vista.

When I use Vista, the speed of Vista is faster than that of XP, which is based on hardware.

I am not so interested in Windows 7. After all, the interface is similar, and some features of Vista are also available, such as tools and encryption, so we may wait for a while before deciding whether to upgrade or not, or look forward to Windows 8, haha!

Indeed, we have always been using genuine Vista. If we change to a pirated or beta version of Windows 7, we are a little reluctant. (Vista comes with it when you buy a book)
After all, compared with Vista, Windows 7 does not have a replacement similar to 98 to XP.
But if I want to buy a genuine Windows 7, I 'd rather go over Linux.

I don't know why. Vista has been used for a year. It is very useful. Although it occupies system resources, it cannot be used up yet, including online games, the boot speed is slower than XP and 7, but it is more than a dozen seconds. It's okay. I installed 7 in the first few days. It doesn't mean anything, when switching between the minimum and maximum windows, there will be a drag delay, and it feels uncomfortable, there is no such situation in Vista.

I think Linus Torvalds is very good: "No matter how secure your platform is, you should always use multiple layers to improve security. in fact, UAC is not bad, just prompting too frequent and mentally retarded. it should be enabled after modification.

With regards to 360, the installation will fail to run normally after UAC is set to the lowest possible state. This problem seems to have been solved by a comrade above. When the safe deposit box is uninstalled, a blue screen is displayed. I deleted it in safe mode.

Windows 7 in the eyes of a long-term Vista User:
Similar to Vista, and the many functions mentioned by the author, Vista already exists and is very practical.

There are some good improvements, such as the libraries in the resource manager. the taskbar and the Start Menu are much more convenient. it is actually the difference between Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Changes in the version number indicate everything. if you can use XP, I don't think many people will choose 2000.

Of course, if you can use vista for free and win7 for free, everyone will choose win7.
However, if you need to purchase and use Windows 7, users who have purchased vista for improvements seem to be not worth spending any more money.

In general, Windows has made great progress over Vista. After all, Microsoft has experienced the failure of Vista and has to learn some lessons. It is still a system worth looking forward to. It is said that it will be released as early as March

I dare not comment on the performance. The startup speed is similar to that of XP, and the running speed is not much different from that of Vista. windows 7's window management is greatly relaxed, so that the gorgeous effect is also practical. Compared with Vista, I think this is the most significant improvement.

Because I have never used Vista, I cannot make too many comments. But as an old XP user, I think I can quickly get started with this system.

Starting from Vista, Microsoft no longer distributes flash with the system.

I don't understand what is the difference between the UAC (on-use) and the Ubuntu Password box that asks for permission root.

Vista (or 7) can also directly agree to or deny access to the secret.

Do you think Vista's UAC appears too frequently ??
Ubuntu does not need to be input after one input.

It seems that many of them do not need to be repeatedly lost after SP1. I am not satisfied with the replication speed of Vista after SP1. However, recently, the sleep function is a problem. My laptop cannot be sleep after being changed to high-performance mode. I can only sleep in power-saving mode.

Windows 7 is good for others.
I really don't understand how good it is.

      I'm from Vista iis7:
      Departure time: Almost
      Virtualization: You can use Vista.
The screenshot capture tool is the same as that of Vista.
The layout content of the fireproof website has not changed.
There are also copies of Vista (one model ).
In the same region, search engine Vista is also available.

Windows 7 is only an operating system that is more compatible with Vista than Vista.
Say 7 is better if you don't need Vista.
      I don't know if X is a problem.

I have always liked wmp11, but I have read a lot of wmp12 and found that the interface is not as good as 11. I really don't like the light blue, it looks like it is not deep, it is also very dazzling.

As long as not too old games can run, because new games are generally structured on DirectX.
The deamon tool can be replaced by a better and free virtual clonedriver and can be verified on most game discs.
In fact, you have not mentioned many features in this article. Some features need to be activated using tools.
      However, you write very well!
