I don't know if you have noticed that there is a folder named winsxs in the Windows directory of Vista and Windows 7 system disks. For the entire Windows Directory, this folder takes up more than half of the size (nearly 3 GB). As the system usage continues to extend, the size of the winsxs folder will become larger, I have more than 4G now,

This is really a piece of "fat! Think about it! For friends who are not very wealthy in the space of system disks, this will inevitably slow down the system operation speed. If this is the only reason, it would be too troublesome to repartition the hard disk to make the space of the System Disk larger, and then reinstall the system! In fact, we can take a simpler method to throw winsxs to other hard disk partitions to free up more unused space for the system disk so that the system can run faster. Next, I will take Windows 7 as an example to introduce the specific operation steps.

Function of the winsxs folder
Winsxs is a very important folder under the Windows directory of Vista/Windows 7. There are many important components in this folder, and the version is also very complex. To ensure the normal operation of windows, files in the folder cannot be deleted. These folders support mscorwks. DLL. nmscorwks cannot be loaded without them. If you forcibly delete the file, you may only be able to barely enter windows in safe mode, and windows will be "suspended.

Step 1: create a link. First from http://technet.microsoft.com/zh-cn/bb897556.aspx
Download "pendmoves and movefile", decompress the downloaded zip package named "pendmoves" to the "X: \ windows \ system32" Directory (X is the system disk, the same below)
Right-click the menu "start-all programs-attachment-command prompt" to run as an administrator and open the "command prompt" window; execute the following two commands at the cursor of the last window (press the Enter key for each command, the same below)
Cd c: \ WINDOWS
Mklink/d winsxs. Link winsxs. Moved

TIPS:

Because it runs as an administrator and the default path is X: \ windows \ system32 when it is enabled, You need to locate the Windows folder again. You can use CD .. to return to the parent directory.
The doscommand "mklink/d winsxs. Link winsxs. Moved" indicates creating a directory link named winsxs. link pointing to winsxs. Moved.
Step 2: obtain full control permissions on the winsxs folder. Double-click the "computer" icon on the desktop, locate the "X: \ windows" directory, right-click the "winsxs" folder under the directory, and select "properties". open the "Security" tab in the "winsxs properties" dialog box and click the "advanced" button for this tab, in the pop-up "winsxs Advanced Security Settings" dialog box, switch to the "owner" tab and click the "edit" button on the tab; in the displayed dialog box, select the "Administrators" option and select the "Replace sub-container and object owner" check box, and then click "OK.

You also need to set the permission before executing the command. Otherwise, an error: 5 will be prompted.

Step 3: Rename and copy files. After executing the two DOS commands in step 1, execute the following commands in sequence at the cursor position in the "command prompt" window:
Movefile X: \ windows \ winsxs. Moved
Movefile X: \ windows \ winsxs. Link X: \ windows \ winsxs

TIPS:
The two doscommands are used to rename the "winsxs" folder under the "X: \ windows" directory to "winsxs. moved. link "is renamed to winsxs.

After renaming the folder and file, restart the system, and rename winsxs in the "X: \ windows" directory. copy all the content in the moved folder to the "windows, winsxs" Directory (for example, "d: \ windows \ winsxs") in a hard disk partition other than the system disk.

After the restart, the file name will be changed:

Step 4: Create an association and delete the winsxs. Moved folder. Run cmd again as an administrator, and then execute the following three commands at the cursor:
CD ..
Rmdir winsxs
Mklink/d winsxs D: \ windows \ winsxs
The following two DOS commands mean to delete the "winsxs" Link under the "X: \ windows" directory, and then create a new link with the same name, pointing to "D: \ windows \ winsxs "directory.
After creating a new link pointing to the "D: \ windows \ winsxs" directory named "winsxs", restart the system, and then "X: \ winsxs. you can delete the moved folder.
"The winsxs folder is thrown to other partitions than the system disk, so as to free up more unused space for the system disk. Windows 7 can run faster, which of course is a matter of course. If you need it, try it.

If you accidentally delete winsxs, you can restore it like this.
Take a system disk and enter SFC/scannow in the "Start" column to fix it.
