Everyone has been using Windows XP for a long time, and Windows XP operating system is already very familiar with it! Have you summed up some of the experience to share it with you? The following author shares some of the experience accumulated during the use of the Windows XP operating system, and allows you to quickly get started with the Windows XP operating system. Mastering XP's usage skills will help you enjoy the power of the XP system.

   1. Restore damaged Win XP system files

If Windows XP system files are damaged by viruses or other causes, we can recover the corrupted files from the Windows XP installation disk.

How to: Search for corrupted files in Windows XP installation disk, note that the last character of the filename is replaced with the bottom line "_", for example: If you are searching for "Notepad.exe" you need to use "notepad.ex_" to search.

After the search has been made, open the command line mode (enter "cmd" in "Run") and enter: "EXPAND the full path to the full path destination file for the source file." For example: EXPAND d:setupnotepad. Ex_ C:windowsnotepad.exe. One thing to note is that if there are spaces in the path, you need to include the paths in double quotes (English quotes).

It's certainly the best to find, but sometimes we can't find the files we need when we search the Windows XP disk. One reason for this is that the file you are looking for is in a "CAB" file. Because Windows XP treats "Cab" as a folder, for Windows XP systems, just drag the "cab" file to the right and copy it to the appropriate directory.

If you are using a different Windows platform, search for a "CAB" file that contains the destination file name. Then open the command line mode and enter: "extract/l the full path of the CAB file for the destination location", for example: extract/l c:windows d:i386driver.cab Notepad.exe. As with previous faces, you need to include the path in double quotes, as if there were spaces in the path.

   2. Reject "Group similar taskbar"

Although the Windows XP "Group similar taskbar button" setting allows you to keep your taskbar open and clean, it is very inconvenient to work with several windows that need to be opened. If you are often using QQ such as communication software and people chat online, if you have more than two friends talking to you at the same time, you will immediately feel the inconvenience of XP default settings D D every time you want to switch to a Conversation object, click on the group, then pop up the menu and then select the friend to talk to, And each friend in the group display is the same icon, the conversation object, you may have to click to see exactly who has replied, waiting for you to respond, and choose the wrong one, and have to start from the group election, very troublesome. Obviously, this is less than the original open a few windows, in the taskbar in each small window click once can start chatting. How to change: Click the "start → control Panel → appearance and theme → Taskbar and ' Start ' menu", in the pop-up window, the "Group similar taskbar button" option in front of the hook to remove.

3, through the registry uninstall useless dynamic Link

In order to eliminate this phenomenon, resource managers often leave useless dynamic links in memory, and you can open Registry Editor and set key values: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows
Currentversionexploreralwaysunloaddll=dword:1 it to 0, this feature will be turned off. Note: The computer needs to be restarted in order for the settings to take effect.

4, clear the Prefetch folder in the pre-read files

When Win XP is used for a period of time, the files in the Prefetch folder become large and there are dead chain files, which slows down the system time. Recommendation: Delete these files periodically. (Windowsprefetch)

   5. Windows xp Weight Loss Method

The following methods for my current WinXP weight loss method, after use, feel more safe, the effect is obvious, at least can reduce 300m space. Note: Beginners are not recommended to use

To delete a driver backup: The Driver.cab file (73MB) in the Windowsdriver cachei386 directory but then we have to insert the Windows installation CD every time we install new hardware

Delete system file backups (generally not used): Run the command line Sfc/purgecache

Delete the alternate DLL file: You can do this if you copy the installation files or have the CD-ROM installed. Windowssystem32dllcache the file (minus 200--300MB).

6. Learn about Win XP startup time

Although the Windows XP startup speed has been satisfying, Microsoft still provides us with a small tool for understanding the specific startup time that Windows XP starts, as well as viewing CPU usage, Disk I/O, and so on, because the tool is graphically displayed, So at a glance. Tools are available to download here.

7, restore EXE file association

EXE file association error is very troublesome, because this kind of situation is caused by the virus, and anti-virus software main files are exe file, since EXE file association error, how can run get antivirus software? Luckily XP provides command-line tools in Safe mode for us to use, and we can use command-line tools to solve this problem.

Enter:assoc< spaces >.exe=exefile< Enter in Safe mode, and ". Exe=exefile" will be displayed on the screen. Now close the Command Prompt window, press Ctrl+alt+del to bring up the Windows Security window, press the "Shutdown" button, select the "Restart" option, in normal mode when you start Windows, all of the EXE files can be run properly!

8, let win XP can automatically update

When Windows has an update, the Automatic Updates system prompts you for Windows upgrades, which, of course, will have a real effect after the Internet. One thing is for sure, if you want to implement Automatic Updates, the system will collect the user's computer information and then send it to the Microsoft site to determine whether you want to upgrade by feedback. This setting is also in the System Properties window, switch to the Automatic Updates tab to see that there are three choices, choose the last "Turn off Automatic Updates", so that the system will not appear often prompted you to automatically update, if you do not use the genuine Windows XP operating system, we recommend that you turn off this feature, Because he may let you upgrade the system to the Windows XP SP2 version without knowing it, which will cause the system to be unstable.

9, installing IIS in the home version

As you know, Windows XP Home Edition cannot install IIS or PWS. In the usual way, you can only upgrade to XP Professional or use Windows 2000, but with a little bit of leverage, you'll be able to install IIS on Windows XP home.

First enter "C:\Windows\inf\sysoc.inf" in "Run" on the Start menu, and the system automatically opens sysoc.inf this file with Notepad. Find the "[Components]" section in Sysoc.inf and continue to find a line of words like "iis=iis.dll,ocentry,iis.inf,hide,7", replacing this line with "Iis=iis2.dll,ocentry, iis2.inf,,7 ". Save and close afterwards.

Insert Windows Professional CD-ROM into the CD drive, and press SHIFT to prevent the CD drive from running automatically. Enter "CMD" in the Run and return, open command-line mode, enter the following two commands at the command line, and return at the end of each line (assuming the CD drive is D):

EXPand D:\i386\iis.dl_ C:\Windows\system32\setup\iis2.dll

     EXPand d:\i386\iis.in_ c:\Windows\inf\iis2.inf

At this point, open your Control panel, click the "Add Remove Program" icon, and then click " Add remove Windows Components.

Look carefully, the operating system shown on the Start menu is Windows XP Home, but after modification, you have the option to add IIS.

Then you can add IIS as you would in Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000, in this case we only have the WWW service installed. The system will start copying files, which will take some time. And for that, keep Windows Professional CD-ROM in the CD-ROM.

After the installation is complete, you can open the control Panel → performance and options → administrative tools, and Internet Information Services management has already appeared there.

If you want to verify that IIS is working properly, open IE, enter "http://localhost" in the Address bar, and then return, and if you can see the Tu San interface, all of your IIS will work.

Finally, a little note: If you are installing the Windows Whistler CD or you need to provide exch_adsiisex.dll this file, it is because you installed IIS with the default option. To solve this problem, simply click "Details" when installing IIS, and then deselect SMTP (i.e. do not install an SMTP server), then the two files will not be required to copy the files.

If you find that the installation project for Internet Information Services (IIS) has been displayed after you install it, but they cannot be selected at all, it is likely that the Iis.dl_ and iis.in_ you are using are removed from Windows XP Professional , you can continue the normal installation as soon as you replace it with Windows Professional.

verified that several services such as WWW, FTP, and so on can run correctly on Windows XP home.
