Tab: tab Word 2003
Note: This part is just mentioned in my video lecture, and no operation examples are provided. In fact, in practice, users generally do not use it (they generally draw tables directly), but they do not appear in operation questions during the word examination, but the objective questions will include. I will give a special explanation here.
After you press the tab key, the position where the insertion point is moved is called a tab. Beginners often insert spaces to align columns between different lines of text. Obviously, this is not a good method. It is difficult to align the text with spaces, which is time-consuming and laborious. The simple method is to press the tab key to move the insert point to the next tab, so that the column alignment of each line of text is easily achieved. In word, the default tab page is automatically set from the left end of the ruler. The distance between the tabs is 0.75 cm. In addition, word provides five different tabs. You can select and set the distance between the tabs as needed.
1. Use a ruler to set a tab
On the left side of the horizontal ruler, you can click a button to create five tabs: Left alignment, center alignment, right alignment, decimal point alignment, and vertical alignment, you can click to select it and use the ruler to set the tab position as follows:
① Place the insert point in the section where you want to set the tab.
② Click the tab icon alignment button on the left side of the horizontal ruler to select a tab.
③ Click the area on which you want to set the tab. The selected tab icon is displayed at this position.
④ Repeated steps ② and ③ can complete the tabulation setting.
⑤ You can drag the tab icon on the horizontal ruler and adjust its position. If you hold down the Alt key while dragging, you can see the exact location data.
After the tab position is set, type the text. When you press the tab key, the insertion point is moved to the next tab. To cancel the tabulation setting, drag the tab icon on the horizontal ruler.Exit horizontal rulerYou can.
2. Use the "tabulation" command in the "format" menu to set the tabulation.
To use the "tabulation" command in the "format" menu to set the tabulation, follow these steps:
① Place the insert point in the section where you want to set the tab.
② Click the tab command in the Format menu to open the "tab" dialog box.

③ Type a specific position value (in centimeters) in the "tabulation position" text box ).
④ In the alignment group, click a one-to-one aligned mode.
⑤ Select a type of Leading Character in the "Leading Character" group.
6. Click set.
7. Repeat ③-⑥ to set multiple tabs.
If you want to delete a tab, you can select the location of the expected tab in the "location" text box and click the "clear" button. Click Clear all to clear all the tabs at a time.
When you set a tab, you can also set a tab with a leading character. This function is useful for directory layout.
Tip:
Based on my experience, I have summarized the typical steps for using the technology in this section as follows:
1. Use the ruler to set the TAB type and the position of the tab. (Click the symbol on the far left of the horizontal ruler, which switches cyclically between the tabs and indented symbols ). For example, after you select the TAB type, click the different positions on the right of the ruler to set the positions of N tabs.
2. Use the "tabulation" command in the "format" menu to further modify it.
You will notice that there are n numbers in the drop-down list box under the "position of the tab", in ascending order. The N numbers correspond to the positions of the N tabs created by the horizontal ruler.
For example, if you want to generate a leading symbol of the... type for each primary table, you canFirstClick a number (select a tab position), click the following leading character type, and then click "set ". In this way, we define a corresponding leading symbol for this tabulation. Then, click the number x shown in the top-down list box corresponding to the tabulation table where you want to generate the leading symbol (the tabulation table at the X position is selected ), click the following leading character type and click "set" to generate a leading symbol for the x tab. Follow these steps to operate ......
3. Click "OK" to exit the dialog box, enter the first content, press the tab key, enter the second content, and then press the tab key ......
In addition, you can change the TAB type through the preceding dialog box-that is, the "alignment" in the dialog box ".
