I. Application introduction

Binding an IP address to a MAC address is to bind the IP address of the computer to a MAC address on the vro interface. This prevents problems caused by unauthorized IP address modification on the terminal and ensures network stability.

In the LAN port cascade networking mode, the terminal connecting to the secondary router is the same as the terminal connecting to the primary router. You only need to set a fixed IP address for the terminal and bind the IP address to the MAC address in the primary router.
In the WDS network mode, vrouters can communicate in the format of 3 and 4 addresses, but only in the format of 4 addresses, only the IP address and MAC address of the terminal connecting to the secondary router are valid. Therefore, before binding an IP address to a MAC address, you must first confirm the address format of the communication between the primary and secondary routers, the method for binding an IP address to a MAC address in the primary router is the same. The following describes how to bind an IP address to a MAC address.

II. Setting method

1, Terminal set a fixed IP address

When binding an IP address to a MAC address, you must set a fixed IP address on the terminal. For more information, see: How to manually specify IP Address?

2, Set IP and MAC binding

① The terminal has been connected to the vro

The terminal to be bound is connected to the vro. Log on to the vro management page and click Application Management > IP And MAC Bind, In IPAndMACIng table You can view the related entries of each terminal, as shown in the following figure:

Click each terminal entry in the preceding figure. Add to binding settings, InIPAndMACBinding settings The entry is automatically displayed, indicating that the binding is successful, as shown in the following figure:

② The terminal is not connected to the vro

If the terminal is not connected to a vro, you must manually add the IP address and MAC address of the terminal. On the IP and MAC binding settings page, clickAdd, Input terminalMACAddress,IPAddress, ClickSaveYou can. As shown in the following figure:

If you need to bind IP addresses to MAC addresses for multiple terminals, add the IP addresses and MAC addresses of each terminal one by one.
So far, the binding of the IP address to the MAC address is complete.

III. Answer questions

You may be concerned about the following issues:

Set IP And MAC After binding IP Can I modify the address?

Yes. You can bind the IP address of a home router to a normal MAC address. If you change the IP address to an IP address outside the bound list (that is, the IP address does not conflict with the bound IP address), the access to the terminal device is not affected.

Can I access the Internet without a bound terminal device?

Yes.
