Four stages of spiritual understanding-Ken Wilbur
Spiritual practice is divided into four stages: faith, Faith, direct understanding and never-returning achievements-you can believe in God, you can have faith in God, you can directly realize God, you can become God. Faith is the first stage of spiritual practice (and the most common). Faith belongs to the dimensional of the mind because it involves imagery, symbolism, and concepts. But the development of the mind at this stage also undergoes several transformations-from whimsy to myth to rationality to looking at logic-all at different stages of spiritual development or religious belief. The whims of belief are self-centered, and the subject and object are often confused, and it is thought that individuals can dramatically influence the material world or others by wishful thinking-the magic of witchcraft and writing is a well-known paradigm. Mythical beliefs (usually centered on society and ethnicity). Because different races have different myths and legends, they are usually mutually exclusive. If Jesus was the only savior of mankind, then Clichy would be ruined) and often cast its spiritual intuition on one or more of the gods or goddesses who were out of the flesh, who had the ultimate control over human behavior. Rational belief is an attempt to remove the myth, which no longer portrays God or Goddess as anthropomorphic divinity, but the ultimate matrix of existence. When the belief of looking at logic appeared, the development of rationality reached its peak, for example, the science of system theory was often used to explain the existence of the great whole system, Gaia, Goddess, ecological spirit, and the net of life. All these are the beliefs of the mind, usually accompanied by strong emotions or feelings, but this is not necessarily the understanding of the spiritual reality of wisdom. They are all forms of translation-because you do not have to change the current level of consciousness to have these interpretations. But when these interpretations begin to mature, the high-level consciousness will constantly goad the ego, when faith will give way to confidence. Second, when Faith loses its compulsion, faith will begin to appear. The belief in any kind of mind will sooner or later be lost in persuasion, for example, no matter how much you believe in the web of life, you still feel that you are an isolated, hopeful and fearful self, even if you strengthen your faith is still ineffective. Faith may provide you with a way of interpreting and meaning, but it is not a transformation, and it becomes more and more painful to understand (if you are involved in a fantasy or mythical period of faith, then your situation will be worse, because these beliefs not only can not transform you, and will make your awareness degenerate, Make you unable to move in the direction of hyper-rationality). Behind the beliefs of Gaia or the web of life, there is often a spiritual intuition that transcends the mind and is intuitive to the oneness of all sentient beings. But as long as the belief occupies consciousness, this intuition cannot be fully realized, because all the faith will cause the division and two Yuan opposition. Even if you believe in the holistic view, from the very end, it is still the same as the analytic faith will cause two yuan opposition, because both must deny each other to make themselves reasonable. "Whole" should not be "thought" out, but to"Living in" such a state, as long as you cling to the oneness of the faith of all beings, it will never happen. Faith can only provide the soul of an armchair nutrition, it can not supply the soul heat, it brings comfort and encouragement will sooner or later eliminate. Faith is the only thing that can support us in the transition period of giving up faith and discovering direct comprehension. If the belief in Oneness has not brought too much solace, people still have faith in oneness that beckons them far away. When faith becomes unbelievable, faith begins to strike, for Faith hears the direct call of the higher realms-the divinity, the God, the Goddess, or the oneness of all beings-a higher reality that transcends the mind and therefore transcends faith. Confidence is standing on the threshold of ultra-personal experience or wisdom to stay with you. Lack of dogma, your sense of security, direct understanding has not happened, your heart does not have a sense of certainty. So faith is like a deserted wasteland--there are thousands of questions, and there is no answer--only with a determination to find the dwelling of the soul, to lead by hidden intuition, and perhaps eventually to discover that direct understanding. Thirdly, the direct comprehension answers the chattering questions of confidence. Direct comprehension can usually be divided into two stages: peak experience and highland experience. Peak experience is usually short, intense and unsolicited, and often creates a huge shift in life. They are the highest point of entry into the super-personal and intellectual levels. For example, the peak experience of the psychic stage is a glimpse of the mysterious state of nature (a sense of the unity of the coarse blunt dimension), the subtle light of the peak experience is a glimpse of the mysterious realm (belonging to the subtle light of the whole sense of the dimension), the peak experience of the self-sexual phase is a glimpse of emptiness (self-dimension of The peak experience of the realm is a glimpse of blindly. Just like Roger · Walsh points out: the higher the level of experience, the more rare (this is why most of the "cosmic Consciousness" mystical experience, in fact, only glimpses of the coarse blunt dimension of the mysterious realm of nature, belonging to the lowest mysterious dimension.) Many people think that this is the understanding of the blindly. Such misunderstandings are common in ecological theory circles. Most people stay at the stage of faith and faith (usually fantasy and mythological). Occasionally, people will enter a strong experience of super-personal peaks, which will shock the parties and bring about better or worse changes. But at least you can see that they are not repeating some of the beliefs they get from books, or talking about translated words, that they have a glimpse of the higher dimensional and will never return to the old. This peak experience is not entirely a good thing. For example, in the myth stage of the specific operation, may suddenly realize the subtle light of the peak experience, so that the sense of authority of the subtle light will enter the myth of faith, the result is a regenerated basic fundamentalist believers-their belief in the mythical God is the world's only savior, To save your soul, burn your body to death. The person in the looking at logical sub-element may explodeThe peak experience of the psychic sub-prime, so that their new ecological model is the only truth to save the Earth, in order to save you, they are very happy to become an ecological fascist. This type of religious fascism is almost impossible to disarm because it mixes high-level truths with low-rise hallucinations. High-level truths are often very real spiritual experiences that are high-level peaks. It is because it is a short experience-not constant and steady-clear awareness-that it will soon translate into a low-level belief, thus creating an unshakable and possibly even the most hideous belief. Peak experience is usually short-ranging from a few minutes to a few hours, and the plateau experience is more sustainable and will gradually become an achievement that never goes back. The peak experience is usually spontaneous, and if you want to turn the peak experience into a plateau experience-from the state of consciousness to the constant awareness-the long-running exercise is necessary. Almost anyone at any time and at any age can enter a brief peak experience, and I know that several people who have never been involved in long-term spiritual practice have entered the peak of experience. If faith and faith are the most common spiritual guidance, and the peak experience is a rare but true spiritual understanding, then the spiritual realms we find are only accessible to those who have long been committed to practice. Plateau experience, like the peak experience, may occur in the psychic dimension, the subtle light dimension, the self-dimensional dimension or any stage of the realm. Let me cite a zen example to illustrate these four realms. In the practice of meditation, the average person usually starts with a number of notes, from one to 10 and repeats for 30 minutes. If you can count without any omission, the Mage may send him a case research (my first case is the word "no"), so the next three to four years, he spent a few hours a day to focus on "nothing", so that his efforts to focus on the word "no" without distraction (that is, absorbed in the "no" What is the meaning of, who is focused on the "none"). Every year they have to take part in Zen seven several times, and practice diligently from morning till night. The first important Highland experience can be triggered by a student's ability to focus on the "no" word without interruption during the waking hours of the day. "None" is now part of your consciousness-that is, you become "nothing"-you begin to maintain your awareness of the word "no" all day without interruption. In other words, you have the ability to continue witnessing during the waking hours of the day. Jackson then told the students that if they wanted to penetrate the case, they would have to go on with their sleep. (When I first heard this, I thought Jackson was telling jokes, a kind of off-the-road humor, "If you want to join the first Infantry Regiment, Swallow three live snakes first.) "I thought they were scaring me, and later found out they were going to help me. For the next two or three years, the really hard-working students will be able to keep the subtle focus of the "no" character on the dream. At that time, even in the subtle light of the dimensional dream, you can maintain the witness。 Obviously, the dream is only a subtle dimension of the phenomenon, the typical subtle realm is a delusion-the perfect environment for the phase, it can guide you in the wake of the subtle dimension. The dream is also regarded as the subsidiary state of the subtle sub-elements, in which there are only some images and images, and there is no material phenomenon of coarse blunt. So to be awake into the dream, has always been considered to have achieved a delusion, because the appearance and dream of waking Sitapo will appear simultaneously. You must be aware of the subtle dimensional activity during the day when you are awake, and you will be able to observe your dreams and then lose control of your power, because you have transformed it and are beginning to evolve towards self-dimensional development. Mindfulness is a typical self-dimensional state of consciousness: non-phase, silent, complete mindfulness-a type of emptiness that allows you to enter the dimensional self when you are awake during the day. After the mastery of samadhi, it will enter into the realm of the knowledge of samadhi or pure, and some traditions call it an end, that is, the activities of all objects cease. With delusion, the same as the dream of clarity, to maintain awareness in a deep sleep without a dream, is equivalent to the three places. Appearance and Deltapo will appear at the same time in the deep sleep of the three places of Samadhi and Cheng Ming. Because you have extended awareness to the non-phase of the dimensional, and then freed the dimensional consciousness, and toward the realm of the ideal development. Once the dimensions of the self-nature are transformed, the natural absence of mindfulness will replace the three-Mo land and the genuine knowledge, and into the effortless, spontaneous, constant in the current "blindly" state. It is not necessary to have great progress in the practice, the lucid dream or the deep sleep of clarity, because the delusion and the three places of rest can be proven during the day. In other words, when the practice witnesses have delusion, they usually begin to enter into the clear dream, because the two states are equal. In the same way, it is common for the three places to go to the third place, and also to reach the clear and deep sleep. Conversely, if you can extend awareness to dreams and deep sleep, it is easy to enter the realm of delusion, the three places of samadhi, and nature. If you want to enter the subtle light and self-dimensional plateau experience, dream Yoga should be the fastest and most effective method, it will enable you to quickly transform these dimensions, and reach the realm of never retreat. When students gradually approached the self-dimensional, they were close to the edge of enlightenment-that is, from the full focus of the self-dimensional state into the great liberation. At first this blindly is also a kind of peak experience, if continue to practice, will enter the plateau experience, then will never retreat. Never retreat to the achievement of self-nature, stop the three Mo, Nirvana, and then into the never-retreating blindly, these stages are called after the Nirvana, usually there are three to four stages. While these stages may make some changes, the main state is constant awareness, or the continual witnessing of waking, dreaming and deep sleep--the first is the peak experience, then the plateau experience, and finally the achievement of never retreating. If you never retreat, the realm of liberation will appear.。 It is said that the result of this realm is the existence of three of land or the complete transformation of the body into a rainbow. There is also an explanation for "turning all things over and into law". [See the spiritual eye for explanations of post-Nirvana and post-liberation periods.] The point of the post-nirvana--The essence of Mahayana and King Kong is that not only the idea of Nirvana, but also the whole phenomenon--has always been persuasive to me. In my own experience, I can attest to the fact that constant awareness and persistence are true, that both will recur, and that there has been a plateau experience that lasts for some time, and sometimes lasts for 24-36 hours--one time, and the constant awareness of the day and night has lasted for 11 days. In my experience, these realizations are not always the degree of return, but I know several teachers have achieved such achievements, the literature is also full of such records. The state of the post-Nirvana period should be reasonable, because they simply achieve the perfect awareness-Nirvana is reincarnation, the Divine is the manifestation of all, the vacuum is wonderful. Together with the brain-wave evidence collected by Alexander and other researchers, we seem to have a solid corroboration that confirms the existence of these realms. But the post-liberation period didn't make much sense to me, and I never met anyone in this state. The way people describe these realms always makes me feel like a magic show after the curtain-for example, when a person turns into a light, or exhibits an incredible miracle-there is no credible or repeatable proof. And the so-called "completely cease all things into the law" concept, it sounds and the knowledge of the samadhi or the end of the whole is no different-a state from the blindly turn down, not beyond the development of blindly. I don't mean to say that these realms do not exist at all, and I mean that there is too little evidence in the post-liberation period compared to other realms traditionally offered-perhaps it is hard to find evidence, perhaps not at all. Iv. the achievement that never goes back means that there is always a level of consciousness that is constantly on the way. Most of us have evolved into the physical, physical, mental dimensional (which is why you can enter these three of times as you please). In addition, some people entered the super-personal dimension (psychic dimension, subtle light dimension, self-dimension, the perfect realm), and broke out the peak experience. Through the practice, we can enter these higher dimensions of the plains experience, these plains experience will be because of continuous cultivation and become a never-retreating achievement-at any time can enter the psychic dimension, subtle light dimensional, self-dimensional, and occasionally will appear not two realms. In other words, at any time you can enter the mysterious state of nature, the mysterious state of the Buddha, the mysterious realm and integration of the mysterious realm, as you can now be aware of the material, physical and mental as easy. In the same way, you can maintain uninterrupted awareness of the three states of waking, dreaming (with delusion) and deep sleep (take the place of the three places of samadhi). Then you will become more and more aware of the "deep sleepNo dream does not exist, it is not true "of this phrase." Reality persists in three realms, including deep sleep and no dreaming, and this pure awareness is the only thing that can persist in three different realms. Once you are able to live in the invisible awareness, you can look at the natural life-and-death process of these three situations as if you were motionless, and then you can realize that the vacuum is wonderful. Let me repeat these major stages of spiritual evolution: the Stage of faith (the period of fantasy, myth, Reason, integration), the stage of confidence (just an intuition of higher dimensions, not a direct one), the peak experience stage (which may occur in the psychic dimension, the subtle light dimension, the self-dimensional dimension, and the ideal state, There is no certain order, because the peak experience is usually only one time), the Plateau experience stage (may occur in the psychic dimension, subtle light dimensional, self-dimensional and the ideal realm, plateau experience almost always in accordance with the above order, because you have to have the ability of a dimensional, to evolve to the next higher dimension), Never return to the achievements (the same can occur in the psychic dimension, subtle light dimensional, self-dimensional and the ideal realm, the order of occurrence of the same, why the order of reasons also ibid.). Here are a few important additions: you may have considerable progress in spiritual development, but still remain at a very low level in other developments (in other words, the deep sense of consciousness is being developed, but the former consciousness is hindered). We all know some people who have developed very high in spiritual practice, but are very immature in sexual relations, emotional intimacy, or physical health. Even if you can enter the realm at any time, your muscles will not be strong, and you will not find a new job or a new girlfriend, your neurosis will not be cured. It is still possible to bury some of the mental shadows that have not yet been excavated (because meditation is not as revealing as most people know, and if so, the teachers who teach meditation do not need psychotherapy, in fact, they need to be treated as much as most people do.) Meditation is not used to expose the shadow of repressed unconscious, it is to allow higher dimensional appearance. So the problem of being repressed to the lower dimensional remains intact. So even if you have progressed in spirituality, you should still combine effective psychotherapy, because the practice of spirituality does not properly expose the mental power of the unconscious: psychological motivation is the psychological process of motivation and emotion. Psychological Dynamics is the psychology that explains the psychological process from the research of motivation and emotion, including the former consciousness and subconscious, so it is similar to the deep psychology. Of course, spirituality does not allow the body to exercise properly-so try some exercises like weightlifting. Likewise, spirituality cannot exercise to the nadis of the body-try Taijiquan. Similarly, spirituality does not increase the motivation of groups or communities. Therefore, my main point of course is to take the path of integrated cultivation, which is a sound and balanced spiritual development direction. This is important,Because the individual-centered folk religion (and the 415 model) emphasizes the oneness of the faith phase. In order for most people to transcend these mental translation activities, we have to do real transformation. Integration of discipline may be the most effective way to practice. It not only emphasizes the subjective quadrant of the four-elephant limit, but also contains other quadrants-that is, me, US and it-including self-transformation, interpersonal relationships, community interactions, and relationships with nature (see the Diary of June 18), which are changes that occur in the dimensional consciousness, not the change of faith. I have said that these high-level realms are usually only after the 56 of diligent practice (it will take 30 years or more to reach the highest realm). If you are a beginner, please do not be intimidated by my words and dispel the idea of practice, because 56 in the blink of an over, if you continue to cultivate, will have a rich harvest. Conversely, if you listen to a teacher who only sells faith (whether he is a fantasy, mythical, rational, or one-of-a-kind belief), five or six years from now you may only be a few years old and nothing (the belief in Oneness is true, but it is only the product of the mind-dimensional. Spiritual meditation is a meta-element of the super-mental, intellectual, or super-conscious. No matter how you interpret it, you cannot transcend the dimensional mind, and there is no personal-centric religious belief that will make you surpass yourself. So you have to take the meditation, the super-personal, the wisdom of the cultivation method. No matter how daunting the cultivation is, you must begin. One old joke is that: how can you eat an elephant? Take a bite to eat. As a matter of fact, the elephant will feel a lot of benefit if you just take a few bite. For example, you can go back to the awareness Center for 20 minutes a day to pray, this method is by Thomas · The teachings of Father Keating. After many people have used this method, the following changes soon occur: the ability to be peaceful, open, full of care, and to listen is strengthened-because your heart is softened and your whole person is soft. In addition, you can try a half-hour of daily Sufi meditation, 40 minutes of vipassana exercises, two times a day of yoga practice, Tantra, 15 minutes before getting up every morning. Either way, you can start practicing as long as it works for you. We need to be gentle with ourselves, and also need to be tough on ourselves-point. You must treat yourself with true compassion rather than a foolish mercy, so you begin to challenge yourself and push yourself-to start practicing. As these lines begin to stabilize, you will have to participate in the annual retreat or Zen seven so that you have the opportunity to turn your peak experience into a plateau experience. Year after year has passed, at least you will be with these cultivation and transformation of their lack of face, toward a higher level of development. One day when you look back on the past, you will find that it is nothing but nankeyimeng, and you will soon awaken from the dream. In fact, the point is simple: if you're on the practiceIf you are interested, you should start looking for a genuine spiritual teacher and start practicing. Without the experience of practice, you will never be able to transcend faith, confidence, and spontaneous peaks of experience. In other words, you cannot enter the plateau experience or the achievement that never goes back. You can only become a passer-by, a tourist who has been to this trip.
