It is much more convenient to record a "border action" with the action panel of Photoshop. Just open the photo you want to add a border to, and then click the "Execute Action" button on the action panel, and the action will be done by the action (action can be interpreted as Photoshop's "macro", which can combine a series of commands into a single action, automatically, Complete repetitive actions exactly). Next, let's use Photoshop 7.0 action to add a border to Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa.

Run Photoshop, open the Mona Lisa picture, and set the border color you like. Here, the author chooses the Filter-reader-clouds filter (that is, the foreground color and background color are randomly combined to fill the selected area), the foreground color with "r:100, g:0, b:0", Background color with "r:150, g:100, b:100." You can begin the recording of the border action below.

1. Select the new Sequence button in the Action Panel, open the dialog box shown in Figure 1, and enter the name of the sequence in the Title field, my Action.

2. Select the new Action button in the action Panel, open the dialog shown in Figure 2, enter the name of the action in the Title field, Picture Frame, and select the My action sequence that we just built in the set (sequence) column. Function key is to set the hotkey, where we can not set, keep the original option none. The color feature is to set the colors of the action button when the action is displayed in button mode, and you can leave the default setting. When the settings are complete, click the Record button and the action recording begins.

3. Click the small triangle in the upper-right corner of the action panel, open the Action Panel drop-down menu, select Insert menu item in the menu, and then eject the Insert menu item dialog box, prompting you to select the menu item with the mouse. Select the "Canvas Size" command under the Image menu and click the OK button (Figure 3). The point to note here is that the action was just inserted in the recording action "Canvas size" (change the canvas size) This project, when the entire action is finished after the execution, it will pop up the "Canvas Size" dialog box, after you fill in the appropriate long, wide size, Click the OK button to perform automatically.

During the recording, the action is recorded automatically for every action we make, so we have to pause the recording until the "Canvas Size" operation is completed, and then continue recording. The Canvas Size dialog box, shown in Figure 4, shows the size of the current canvas and asks you to fill in the new canvas size, the difference between the image size command and the "Canvas size" command under the Photoshop Image menu, which is to change the size of the images, The latter only changes the size of the canvas and the image is the same size, we are using the "Canvas size" command This feature, the picture with a border.

The width of the border can be set according to its own needs, here I choose the border width of 40 pixels, that is, the original image size based on the length, width and 80 pixels. If we do not insert the item "Insert menu item" while recording the action, but instead enter one of the changes to the canvas size, the recorded action applies only to pictures of this size, if you are using the Insert menu item The recorded action can be applied to any size picture. Interested friends may as well try both ways.

4. Do not forget to open the recording button before doing the following operation. Using the Photoshop Magic Wand tool, select the border (usually filled with background color) that just changed the size of the canvas, and then select the Filter-reader-clouds (cloud) filter to soften the selection with the foreground and background colors. Select Filter-texture-craquelure (turtle crack) filter, this filter can imitate the effect of painting on the rough gypsum surface, more suitable for making picture border, in the Craquelure dialog box can adjust the size, depth and brightness of the crack. 5. After performing the fifth step, the processed border is still selected, press the shortcut key CTRL + C (copy), Ctrl + V (paste), select the layer just pasted in the layers panel, execute the "Layer Style" command under the Layer menu (or double-click the layer), You can open the Layer style panel, select bevel and Emboss (bevel and emboss effects), adjust the parameters in structure, style "Inner bevel" (inner bevel), technique "chisel Hard" ( Carving clear), if you do not like the angular border, select "Smooth" (smooth); Dierection is the direction of the "up" bevel, this is up. The size is a bevel, is set to 12 pixels, the remaining items are set by default (Figure 6), and the OK button is clicked. Press the shortcut key "Ctrl+shift+e" to merge the visible layers and the processed pictures as shown in the title picture. At this point, the entire border action is recorded. Finally, click the Stop button on the action panel and select "Save Actions" in the Drop-down menu of the action panel mentioned earlier to save the action.
