Add an audio file
1. Embedding Method
FrontPage XP supports a variety of sound format files, mainly including MIDI, WAV, AIFF and AU, let's see how to add sound effects to the Web page.
Create a new page, and then execute the Insert/web Component command to open the Insert Web Component dialog box, as shown in Figure 1. In component type, select Advanced control, and then in the Select one control on the right, select the Plugins option and click Finish.

Open the Plug-in Properties dialog box, as shown in Figure 2. Click the Browse button to select the audio file you want to play in the Open dialog box. Then, in the message to display when browsers do not support Plug-ins, type in the text box, "Your browser cannot play this file format!" So that when the viewer is using a browser that is unable to play the audio file, a message is given on the Web page. Finally click the OK button to insert the audio.

When you preview the page, the music will play automatically. This player name is "active Movie", it is a media playback plug-in which is brought by IE browser, if IE detects to have inserted an audio file in the webpage, will display an "active Movie" player in the place where the audio is inserted, and use it to play the audio.
2. Insert Method
If the browser does not support audio plug-ins, the audio files added with the Embed method cannot be played. The method of inserting an audio file does not need to rely on plug-ins and is therefore not subject to this restriction.
Right-click in the margins of the page, select Page Properties on the Open shortcut menu, click the Browse button after the position in the background music bar, select the background music file you want to play, and then "OK" to return. Next, select the Unlimited Radio box, which allows the Web page to automatically loop through the background music, as shown in Figure 3. If you cancel the unlimited radio box, you can also set the playback times of the background music to your own needs.

3. Link Method
First, enter a text in the page, such as "Play Music," Select the text and click the right mouse button, select the "HYPERLINK" command, in the pop-up dialog box, select the audio file you want to play, such as C:\M01. MP3, click the OK button to return, so that when you browse the page, the Windows system automatically opens the default player to play the linked sound file when you click the link.
Add video File
1. Embedding Method
Adding a video file to a Web page is similar to adding an audio file, executing the Insert/web Component command to open the Insert Web Component dialog box. In component type, select Advanced control, and then in the Select one control on the right, select the plugins option and finally finish. Clicking the browse button in the Open Plug-in Properties dialog box enables you to play the video file in the Web page after selecting the video file.

2. Insert Method
Add a video file using the Insert method, you can click the right mouse button where you want to insert the video, and then choose Insert/Picture/video, and after you select the file in the Open Video dialog box, OK, unlike the previous method, the insertion method does not provide a control button for video playback. As a result, viewers cannot control the playback of video files. At this point, double-click the video playback icon that you just inserted to open the Picture Properties dialog box, as shown in Figure 4. In the Video tab, click the Browse button to change the video source file, and in the repeat count and loop delay, you can set the number of times to play and each playback interval separately. Select the Open File Radio box in start to indicate that the video will play when you open the page, and select "when hovering over it" to indicate that the video file starts playing when the mouse passes over the video position.
3. Link Method
First enter a text, such as "play video," and then select the text and right-click, select the Hyperlink command, and set this link to point to C:\MP01. MPG, so that when you click the text link, the player is automatically turned on to play.
Insert Flash Animation
Flash animation is a common online animation format, in FrontPage XP does not support the direct insertion of the SWF format Flash animation file, you can follow the following methods.
Execute the menu command Insert/web Component, and then select Advanced control in the list of component types on the left side of the Open dialog box, and then select ActiveX Control in the right window. Click the Next button, and click the Customize button below the list of selection controls. Select the Shockwave Flash Object control in the list, click OK to return to the Insert Web Component dialog box, select Shockwave Flash object, and click the Finish button.

Double-click the white rectangular area that appears in the page to open the ActiveX Control Properties dialog box, as shown in Figure 5. In the text box after the Movie URL, enter the link address of the Flash animation file you want to insert, and select the Flash animation quality in the Drop-down list after "Quality", select the display scale after "Scale", such as "Show All" (full display), and then click " OK button to return to see the animation in the Web page.
Summary: Whether you're inserting a video or an audio file, in the previous 3 methods, the most commonly used to link method, embedding method can make audio, video and Web pages into one, you can use it to enhance the special effects of the Web page, inserting the method only in IE browser can be effective, the limitations are relatively large.
