People who often use computers may have heard that when a computer fails, Windows will provide a platform named "safe mode, here, users can solve many problems-whether it is hardware or software. But will you use this security mode? Today, we will show you the true face of it.
First recognized Security Mode
To enter safe mode, you only need to press f8. the option menu appears, and then select the upper/lower cursor on the keyboard to enter different startup modes. The options menu includes the following:
1. Security Mode
Use only basic files and driversProgram. Such as mouse (excluding USB serial mouse), monitor, keyboard, hard disk, basic video, default system service, etc., but no network connection.
If the computer cannot be started successfully in safe mode, you may need to use the Recovery Console function to repair the system.
2. Security Mode with network connection
Added Network Connections based on the common security mode. However, some network programs may fail to run normally, such as MSN, and many self-started applications, such as firewalls and anti-virus software, are not automatically loaded. Therefore, in this mode, do not forget to manually load it. Otherwise, malicious programs may intrude into your computer.
3. Safe mode with command line prompt
Use only basic files and drivers for startup. After logon, the command prompt is displayed on the screen, instead of the Windows graphic interface.
Note: In this mode, if you accidentally close the Command Prompt window, the screen will be black. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL to bring up the "Task Manager", click "new task", and then enter "C: \ WINDOWS \ assumer.exe" in the "run" dialog box ", the GUI of Windows XP can be started immediately, which is identical to the interfaces in the preceding three security modes. If you enter "C: \ windows \ system32 \ cmd", the Command Prompt window can be opened again. In fact, you can use this method to start the Command Prompt window in other security modes or even during normal startup.
4. Enable startup log
Start in normal security mode and record all drivers and services loaded (or not loaded) by the system to a text file. This file is called ntbtlog.txt and is located in the % WINDIR % (c: \ windows \ by default) directory. The startup log is useful for determining the exact cause of system startup problems.
5. Enable VGA mode
Start with the basic VGA driver. This mode is useful when you install a new video card driver that prevents windows from starting properly. In fact, no matter which form of safe mode to start, it always uses the basic video driver. Therefore, in these modes, the screen resolution is 640 × 480 and cannot be changed. However, you can reinstall the driver.
6. The last correct configuration
Start with the Registry Information and driver stored when Windows was disabled last time. Any changes made since the last successful start will be lost. Therefore, the last correct configuration is used only when the configuration is incorrect (mainly software configuration. But it cannot solve the problem caused by the driver or file being damaged or lost.
7. Directory Service recovery mode
This is for the server operating system and is only used to restore the sysvol directory and Active Directory directory services on the domain controller.
8. debugging mode
At startup, debug information is sent to another computer through the serial cable.
If you are installing windows on your computer or have used the Remote Installation service, you can see additional options related to restoring or restoring the system using the Remote Installation service.
Practical Application
1. I used to use an old monitor and a beginner. What do beginners like most? I also feel a sense of accomplishment when I change the wallpaper and set the resolution, I did not expect to adjust the resolution and refresh rate too high by mistake. The next time I start the screen, I had to reinstall the operating system.
Now, when you think about it, it's really cute. You just need to restart it to safe mode (in the first four modes), delete the graphics card driver, restart the computer, and restart (normally started, the system will automatically scan the video card and install the driver, and the screen will be restored to normal display.
Some problems can also be solved in this way. For example, Windows XP automatically recognizes the hardware and installs the driver, but sometimes the error message is not displayed in the Device Manager. However, the driver is not working properly. You can reinstall the driver in safe mode if the Network Adapter Driver is incorrect or the screen display is incorrect.
2. Identify malicious self-starting programs or services
If the computer encounters some unknown errors, such as the failure to access the network and the problem cannot be found based on the general idea, you can start to the secure mode with network connection. If the problem persists, it indicates that some self-starting programs or services affect the normal connection of the network.
In secure mode with network connection, use the command prompt tool tasklist> D: \ anquan.txt with redirection to record the current process to the text file anquan.txt in the d: root directory. Start the computer in the normal way and compare the processes recorded in anquan.txt with the processes at this time. You will find that there are many processes at this time. Please end the multiple processes one by one and check whether the network connection is normal. If the network connection is normal at the end of a process, it means that the process that just ended is the culprit. After detecting the issue, you can delete the executable files related to the process. However, it should also be noted that because it runs automatically, after being forcibly deleted, it may cause an error "cannot find a file" during startup, you have to clear all the settings related to self-starting, including "starting" and "win. INI, registry, startup script, and start.
3. Adjust the partition
On one occasion, I was on a business trip with Ben and wanted to process the report file that was ready for use when I got off the bus. However, Ben was not so angry that the partition error was reported when I started it. Oh, my God, when I went out, I didn't bring any tool or software. Fortunately, there was no such thing as a wonderful path, and I was able to start in safe mode, the command line tool diskpart can do all the work of the partition magician (maybe few friends have heard of it ). Diskpart is very powerful. It works in an integrated environment. After you input diskpart, the private prompt shown in Figure 1 is diskpart> (note: this is not a path ), in this environment, you can enter a lot of related and dedicated sub-commands. The following describes how to resize a partition.
Note: The following operations are recorded on the desktop.
① Start to the safe mode with a command prompt and enter the command diskpart. Enter list partition to display the partitions. Obviously, there are two primary partitions and two extended partitions.
② Input "select parttition 3" to make the 3rd partition (which is MB), so that the partition has the focus attribute. Enter "delete partition" to delete the partition. Compare the values of the two "list partition" commands in Figure 3 1st and 2. It is not difficult to see that the original partition 3 has been deleted.
③ Input "select partition 1" to make it have the focus attribute, and then input "extend". The allocated space at the end of the deleted partition is automatically added to partition 1st.
For partition expansion, This is the patent of the partition magician, "diskpart" can also be achieved, it seems that Windows Server 2003 does not support the partition magician is reasonable. Enter "list partition" to observe the capacity changes of the 1st partitions.
Note: When you expand a partition with a focus to the nearest unallocated space. For common partitions, unallocated space must be on the same disk and followed by a partition with a focus.
If the partition to be resized is in NTFS format, no data will be lost after resizing. If the file system format is not NTFS, this command will fail, but will not make any changes to the partition and will not damage the data. You cannot expand the current system partition or start partition, or expand partitions that contain page files. As you can see, my computer has two primary partitions, and partition 5 is the active partition. Otherwise, you cannot resize partition 1.
Syntax: extend [size = N]
Parameter description: size = N: the size of the space added to the current partition (MB ). If no size is specified, the disk is extended to occupy all the nearest unallocated space.
④ No matter what changes have been made to the hard disk partition, including creation, deletion, and resizing, it will take effect without restarting the computer (this is not what the partition magician can do ), but I can't see these partitions on my computer. Why? I didn't specify drive letters (drive letters) for my computer. How do I specify drive letters? The following describes how to specify a drive letter for the first partition.
To make the 1st partitions have the focus attribute, enter the "Assign" command, and diskpart will automatically allocate one. Of course, you can also manually specify it by running the "assignletter = x" command. manual timing cannot be the same as an existing drive letter, such as C. After such processing, you can view these partitions under my computer.
⑤ Set Partition 5 as an active partition. Use select parttition 5 to make it focus attribute and then activate it with active. Finally, enter exit to exit the diskpart integration environment and restart the computer automatically.
Note: If you are used to diskpart, you will feel that its design conforms to people's thinking habits. Generally, you should first specify the focus before performing operations, during the operation, you can also display the partition status to grasp the progress. Enter help to view all sub-commands. If any sub-commands are incorrect, the sub-command list and brief description are automatically displayed, guiding you to the correct path. In addition, after Windows 2003 is installed, the most familiar partition magician (non-server version) cannot run normally. Using diskpart is indeed a good choice.
As mentioned above, the focus must be specified before any operation under diskpart to specify which object to operate. This makes the operation logic clear, but on the other hand, if you execute destructive commands, such as deleting partitions, If you mistakenly specify the focus, the loss will be irrecoverable. Therefore, use the LIST command to view the status of each partition at any time. There is an asterisk (*) in front of the Focus partition.
In addition, you can also use the security mode to clear viruses. For example, some antivirus software can report viruses but cannot clear or even isolate or delete them. In this case, you can start to safe mode and try to delete these virus files. Of course, here we will only introduce some common security modes. I hope you can gradually experience more convenient features in your computer.
