If you are new to the Alpha v6 Router, you are not familiar with its hardware installation, interface ...... In fact, like other routers, the Alpha v6 Router has no problem after learning about basic router settings and application knowledge.
LED lights:
◆ When this indicator is on, the LAN port is connected to the LAN.
◆ When this indicator is on, the connection between the Broadband Router and ADSL or CABLEMODEM is normal.
◆ When the Power indicator is on, the Power supply of the Broadband Router is normal.
Interface:
◆ LAN: 10/100 MbpsRJ45 adaptive. The LAN ports of this series of products Support automatic Uplink ). if the router is connected, the LED lights on the router and the corresponding LED lights of the LAN Hub or switch should be lit.
◆ WAN: 10/100 MbpsRJ45 adaptive. Connect Cable/DSLModem or LAN interfaces of different network segments. Some twisted wires connected to Cable/DSLModem need to be crossed. For details, see the Cable/DSLModem user manual.
◆ POWER: This port is powered on.
◆ RESET: the RESET button can be used to restart the Broadband Router or restore the factory settings.
Alpha v6 Router product application:
You can use a Broadband Router to establish a virtual LAN (LAN), or connect a LAN with different network segments on the "virtual LAN" without any workstation having a registered and valid IP address, although you cannot see the "virtual LAN" from the Internet, you can still browse the Internet, because the built-in NAT mechanism of the Broadband Router allows all LAN users to access the Internet by sharing one IP address, connecting a virtual LAN (LAN) to the Internet to establish a virtual LAN (LAN) to connect to the Internet is the most typical example of use. In this case, the Broadband Router is used as an IP sharer to allow multiple users to access the Internet at the same time using the IP address specified by an ISP.
The built-in DHCP/BootP server dynamically allocates IP addresses to each user and uses the IP Address Allocation and translation technology NAT to establish a virtual LAN (VirtualLAN) to connect to the Internet, however, for the outside world (the Internet), apart from the Broadband Router, the virtual LAN cannot be seen. If you want remote users to access the servers on the virtual network, such as WWW server, you only need to use the VirtualServerMapping function. In this example, a Broadband Router is used as an IP router to enable data exchange between different network segments.
Virtual Server ing:
The ing function of the virtual server of the Broadband Router allows you to create a virtual server on the Virtual LAN (VirtualLAN) so that remote Internet users can use it. In a TCP/IP environment, each server has a unique port number. You can think of this port number as a window to connect to the server. When you want to find a server, use the IP address of the server and the port number of the server. VirtualServerMapping is a mechanism. The Broadband Router can find the server on the LAN to establish a virtual LAN and enable the server to be used by remote Internet users. To achieve this, you only need to define the IP address of the workstation where the server is located, the real Port Number of the server, and the corresponding "virtual port number ". The so-called "virtual port number" is a port number that the Broadband Router retains for the server.
Alpha v6 Router product settings:
Note 1: system requirements. To install a Broadband Router, you must have a workstation or PC with the following software and hardware devices.
◆ Compatible with ibm pc 80386 or later
◆ Ethernet Card
◆ Windows98/95/NT
◆ Browser software, for example, NetscapeNavigator or InternetExplorer
NOTE 2: quick installation of the Alpha v6 Router setting method provides a shortcut for your system settings. However, it is only applicable to systems with existing ISP accounts or fixed and valid IP addresses. If you have installed a TCP/IP job environment on your computer and network, you can directly go to section 2 for quick installation. If not, before performing quick installation in section 2, first, set TCP/IP in section 1.
