Future-oriented Friendly design: Future Friendly and futurefriendly
I translated part of this article a year ago and finally completed the translation. Although this design idea has been put forward for several years, I still feel that it should be promoted in China to let everyone know "content policy", "mobile first", and "responsive design ", the root cause of design ideas and technologies such as "Atomic design. These concepts were first proposed by luke wroblewski, brad frost, and others under the same design framework. The author authorized Jason Grigsby, co-founder of "Future Friendly Web Design", to translate the Design idea framework into a Chinese version for the first time. Restrictions on capabilities, please correct me and spread it. Please indicate the source when reprinting. I. Preface
Today, the number of mobile devices connected to the Internet is growing rapidly, and people's Internet habits are constantly changing. The wave of mobile Internet is booming. as designers and developers, you need to understand the following situations:
Embrace the future
The road is tortuous and bright ahead. We cannot know what the future development of the network and equipment environment will bring to us. However, we should:
- Believe in the future and embrace the unknown;
- Learn and apply some design ideas that adapt to the future in the design work, that is, future-oriented friendly design ideas;
- Use the above ideas to help and influence others.
Ii. Thinking
Our design should be more friendly to the future. We should make predictions for the future and select appropriate technologies to create products or values that meet today's needs and adapt to future changes. The following are some theoretical ideas about products, designs, and technologies. If you have new insights on these theories or have a different path, please share them with us.
Focus on Content
We do not want to present all the content on all devices. We need to determine which content is what users want to see, and then reorganize it in a reasonable way to adapt to the user's devices. You need to know that you need a lot of work to filter your desired content based on your own eyes. We can use a series of design and technical solutions to make it easy for users to access content and services on a variety of devices. This differentiated content organization or design scheme can draw on the following three ideas:
- Content first
- Move first
- User-centered content
User-centered data
Nowadays, users often have multiple devices that can connect to IOT platform. These devices can communicate with each other, just like iCloud. If you use the iPad to modify the address book, log on to the mobile phone of the same account and you will immediately be able to get the modified content on your iPad. In future-oriented friendly design, this is called "user-centered Data". The main points are as follows:
- Timeline principle: One creation and multiple releases
- Use the command line to collect your favorite Bag (BagCheck)
- Data User Experience
Content organization
Properly organized content is the core of the design. Since we can only adapt the content to the total number of devices, it is necessary to understand the differences, constraints and restrictions between devices as much as possible. Then the specific design is carried out according to the characteristics of each device. In the future, there will be a variety of ways to adapt. Only by bold exploration and reasonable prediction can we find a suitable solution.
Whether it is a high-end smart machine or an old device with large restrictions, the design scheme of content intercommunication between devices is also part of the future-oriented friendly design.
- Content prepared for the future
- Adaptive Web Content
- Format prior to content
Identify unknown Devices
In the face of various types of equipment, the design work is undoubtedly an arduous challenge. The fulfillment of web standardization is undoubtedly the best way to simplify the design work. At the same time, personalized adjustment based on the identification information of each different device is necessary to complete the design work.
Classify the devices to be adapted and apply the classification method to new devices that may appear in the future.
- Device Detection
- Yiibu device information tools
- Device differential and responsive design
Use various devices to build your own web ecosystem
In our digital life, each device has its own advantages. Therefore, we will select the appropriate device for the appropriate work. When we efficiently use several devices in our hands to serve our lives, these devices form a web ecosystem that surrounds us. In this ecosystem, the relationship between devices is not separated. And only in this ecosystem can each device maximize its role. What we need to consider is how to use this ecosystem to improve our work capabilities and efficiency.
- Multi-screen life
- Mobile Devices
- Sensor design considerations
Iii. Participation
Welcome to "future-oriented friendly design ". Now you are part of us. You can use it in your work or promote this design idea to others. For example, you can do the following:
Think about our design philosophy before Design
"Future-oriented friendly design" describes a design principle rather than a special technical implementation solution. Specific technologies may flourish or fade over time. There is also no way, technology, or process that can solve all problems just like you. "Future-oriented friendly design" is a design philosophy, which should be integrated in technology.
Use the name "future-oriented friendly design"
When you discuss related principles with your peers in your design work, use the name "future-oriented friendly design" to promote the concept and the principles behind the concept to your peers. Add the # ffly tag to Weibo and use the "future-oriented friendly design" special logo (. eps or. ai ).
Propagation Concept
Introduce "future-oriented friendly design" to your partners, subordinates, and bosses and share our website. There must be resistance to the promotion of new concepts. We try to connect our design concepts with hard indicators such as business goals, user experience, and relationship chain improvement, so we may be able to win the approval of most people.
Select a technical implementation solution that meets the "future-oriented friendly design"
Check the current project objectives and select a technical solution that meets the "future-oriented friendly design" to achieve it. The future-oriented friendly design-ideology contains the learning resources you need. Many authors are constantly enriching our theoretical and technical articles. We sincerely invite you to check our work and look forward to your sharing:
