Today, I saw a question about Chinese Education in the eyes of Dr. Lee. When talking about the gap between General Chinese college students and general American college students, I said this:
"In the United States, you find a 100-ranked college student and ask him, he probably knows what he will do in the future, and he may not be able to recite every mathematical formula, but he can explain his reasoning to you. He may not recite the Washington Declaration, but he can tell you what the American word represents. He may not recite the highest and deepest philosophical words, but he can tell you what he learned from Plato. He will know what his ideal is and what he wants most, and he will not feel it. Oh, 99 schools are better than my school, and many others in our class are better than me, better than me. He will tell you that I play well, I sing well, I am handsome, girls like me, and he will have a confident and positive attitude, in the future, he may also become a very good talent."
This paragraph may have been a bit exaggerated, but I thought it was a great deal. In particular, the examples he gave illustrate the differences in education between China and the United States. Chinese education is not useless, and American education is not perfect. Learning from each other is the right path.
