Get root permissions on Ubuntu (Linux)

If you have not set the root password at this point, you can set it as follows.

Open terminal (terminal), enter:

sudo passwd root

It will prompt for "Enter a new UNIX password" and then follow the input.

To enable root in the terminal later, enter directly:

su root

will be promoted from the current account to the root account.
